Do you mean they use a different type of plastic? Or that it’s textured differently? Or are they actually shaped differently?
Color and texture are different. The GT seats have a dark charcoal color and have a light sand texture. The Rally has white color and a smooth (glossy) texture. The shape is the same. ??

Ugh. Now I have to watch Clone Wars to understand the reference.
I regard watching Star Wars as a privilege, not an obligation. I was never able to get into the animated Star Wars content, myself either. Maybe this will save you some time watching cartoons: Clone Wars | Wookieepedia | Fandom

Tell that to the people I knew in high school who saw the original movie 17 times before i saw it once (still in the first week of release). ??

Star Wars was the first movie I remember watching in a theater as a kid. I loved it, but it was way past my bedtime and my big brother made fun of me for falling asleep before the end of it ;-)

Not sure which movie it was, but I'm sure it was a Disney film that was the first one I saw as a child. There were also some spaghetti westerns and Herbie the Love Bug following. The first movie I transported myself to (bicycled with my dad) was Midway (in Sensurround™!) in 1976. Star Wars came later. LOL. ??

The Rally's seatback is shaped the same as the GT's seats, but they are made out of recycled Storm Trooper armor from the Clone Wars.

Ok. Now I get it. It’s ugly.

Star Wars was released in 1977.
I remember seeing 2001: A Space Odyssey with my mom. ?

The “liftgate spoiler” is the absolutely ugliest design element on the vehicle. It looks like something a 19 year old buys at AutoZone and bolts onto his 93 Honda Civic to make it look “cool”.

So I’m not one to throw shade at someone else’s proud purchase, but basically everything about the “Rally Edition” looks so stupid. The spoiler looks ridiculous. The idea that anyone is gonna race this on a dirt track with that extra 1” of clearance and ground guard and PPF for gravel is ridiculous. Everything about this is ridiculous. But granted, I’ve never been a “Mustang guy” or a “car guy” so I probably just don’t get it.

I think a lot of mainstream buyers will share your opinion, but I do bear gratitude to the Ford marketers who looked at the focus group feedback and said "yup, it's niche - let's build it anyway!"

I'm no rally racer. I'm just a commuter with a leadfoot who has prematurely thrown away far too many perfectly serviceable low-profile performance tires because they popped blisters or pinch-flats on our PNW potholes. A softened GT Magneride suspension with some extra sidewall profile is a great compromise for my enthusiastic driving style and my wife's preference for a plush ride. While all-wheel drive and the extra inch of clearance has already come in handy navigating some of the primitive rural farm\forest service\logging access roads I travel enroute to various PNW trailheads on weekend adventures.

I also think it was a very inexpensive way for them to come up with a unique variant. Some plastic body kit stuff, s small software update, and some decals.

Don't forget the wheel/tire package, unique shocks and springs, and underbody protection. It's definitely more than an appearance package and a tune.

Yeah, the appearance generates mixed opinions, but the actual engineering work that was done seems to have met with fairly universal approval from folks that have actually driven them.

It would be great if it could look like a GT; other stuff was optional.

I finally installed the locking wheel lugnuts today so that my car is prepared when all y'all rally wheel-haters realize it was only your jealousy talking ;-)
