I live in a fairly rural area of Arkansas and noticed some months back that my local Ford dealer had a demo MME. I stopped by to check it out a couple of times but never took the opportunity to drive it. Fast forward a few months, the lease on my BMW i3s is wrapping up, so I started shopping around for a replacement. I started heavily leaning toward the ID.4 because I wanted an electric crossover and was impressed with its tech and driving dynamics. Spoke to a couple of dealers and between incredible ignorance of leasing an EV or the stupid games some play with “dealer add ons” I just started getting turned off. Plus special ordering was going to have me waiting until probably Oct or Nov and I didn’t want to be stuck turning in my lease and not having a car.

On a whim, I happened to check the website of my local Ford dealer and saw they had another MME, but not a demo this time. Unshockingly to most of you, they had that demo sold before the loaner program was finished. I was thinking this was probably a sold unit, but I called and asked just to be sure. Turns out it’s available! Which blows me away seeing how long some of you have waited since you ordered. I made arrangements to come check it out and wow! What a looker! I was very impressed with the drive, the tech, the whole package.

It’s a red Premium RWD. We played around with some numbers on Ford Options and it turns out it’ll be essentially a wash between the two cars - leasing an ID.4 Pro S vs Ford Options on a MME Premium.

So I guess you could say aesthetics won out, and the plan is to go by Monday afternoon to finalize all the paperwork and drive her home.

I guess there are some benefits to living in rural areas where there isn’t huge demand for EVs after all!

I will, alas, be paying MSRP. As painful as that is for me, considering many of the others I’ve found within 300 mi of me have $5k dealer mark ups, I’ll deal with it.

Great color!! I’m just impressed that a dealer knew what Ford Options was. That’s a great find too!!
Ha! Well to be fair, I probably would have already taken delivery of the car but this is their first FO purchase so they’re having to learn it as they go along. ? It’s all good though. They’ve been very approachable and communicative and my sales guy himself has been incredibly transparent about what he does and doesn’t know.

Good job! I put my order in 5/18 and just got a week of 9/27 production week which means probably end of October delivery if I'm lucky. I've also looked since 6/1 or so for a dealer within 300 miles that has my specific car for sale (RR, Premium, AWD, ExtBatt, white interior) with zero luck so far.

Sounds like the dealer is at least willing to work with you on figuring out how to do Ford Options and isn't blowing a bunch of smoke at you. Congrats on finding a decent dealer and bigger congrats on the new car!

Watch out for hidden dealer markups. The trend right now is for dealers to sell the vehicle at MSRP but charge ridiculous fees which are dealer markups in disguise.
$1000 dollar tint+$1000 lug nuts+$1000 doc fee+$1000 nitrogen tires+$1000 delivery fee is how they claim to sell the vehicle at MSRP.

Yikes! That’s nuts. We’re already worked out FO payments at 36 and 48 months, what the residual is, and the interest rate, so I think I’m going to avoid most of those shenanigans. I’m sure I’ll have to do the song and dance with the F&I person, but thankfully I don’t anticipate any unexpected additions. I will certainly be going over the contract with a fine toothed comb!
