My 2021 GT PE was at an auto body shop for the past 3 weeks being repaired from a hit and run. During that time I got a notice in Ford Pass that I had to go to the car menus to schedule updates and (if I remember correctly) that it needed to be plugged in during the update. I don't think the body shop would have done this as the car did not appear to be charged at all while they had it.

However, when I picked up the car today the only reference to an update is the minor update 22-PU0707-SCH-POPB that was completed two days ago. It seems like either:
  1. Ford pulled back the update.
  2. It will magically re-appear soon and ask me to schedule it.
  3. This new update showing up has somehow blocked the update and I'll have to go to the dealer.
  4. The body shop actually did this update. The recall still shows as active on ford.com.
Has anyone else experienced the recall update going away?

That message you got is some generic message Ford occasionally sends out, but it never seems to coincide with an update.

1. Ford has not pulled back the update, when you do get it a notice will show up in Ford Pass
2. It will likely happen soon, when the car is plugged in, but usually you also need to be driving the car to get an update to happen, so if it was in the shop not being driven, that is why you have not gotten it yet.
3. Updates can happen in any order, a later one should not block a different one. Many have reported updates coming in somewhat random order.
4. I am not sure a body shop would do the update, unless it was a dealer that did the body work. Even when the update is completed, the notice seems to never clear. I got the OTA installed on Aug 5, and it still shows active on the Ford web site. Is there any writeup form the work that would indicate they ran any software updates? That should be on the paperwork.

The body shop was not associated with a dealer, and I’m almost positive they didn’t do anything like an update; all their activity on the bill is body work related.

I guess I’ll see if the recall update shows up anytime soon and if not just take it to the dealer.

Recall showing still in FordPass doesn't mean it wasn't applied.

That is a different update that happened, not the recall update. I'm not sure about your recall update status. It may have been done already or not since the app is not an accurate indication.

Similar situation. On vacation for three weeks. MME was in my garage, plugged into charger. Received the message to set up schedule in FordPass while away. A bit puzzling because I had already set up scheduling for the car months ago.

When I returned home, the notification to set up schedule was gone and there was no indication that the recall update had been done. The orginal recall notice was still showing incomplete. Since then the car has received two OTA updates, but I've no idea whether the recall update was applied.

The "campaigns" expire after about two weeks if not applied. It will be sent again. If you send me your VIN I could check it and confirm.

Here is an example:

Thank you! This is a very helpful explanation; I was not aware that campaigns expire. I will DM you my VIN.
