Hi,

I have a 2021 Mach-E and a Galaxy S21 connected via Android Auto. Ever since the November 2022 Ford Update I've had a ton of issues amd unwanted changes. One of them being that even though I have "Conversation Chime" disabled in the Android Auto app I still hear a sound come through when I get a text message. I don't see any option in the cars settings to disable this. The same sound also comes through when I get a Calendar notification.

I read somewhere that what I can do is lower the volume AS I'm receiving the text and that will essentially mute it going forward but that hasn't helped when I tried. Has anyone figured out a way to disable the notification sound?

That doesn't seem to be the settings for the Mach-E. Looks like its for Super Duty. I don't see those settings on my phone.

Here's what i see under "Bluetooth Settings" on my Galaxy S21+

Inside those settings there isn't a specific text/sms notification setting to turn off.

I'm having the same issue as you. It's very loud and annoying, I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. I want to still get text notifications but not the chime. Anyone that finds a fix please tag me.

I have a Bronco and it was doing the same thing. I imagine my screen looks different, but fix should be the same.in principle. This was killing me, and then it hit me---check the cars Sync system settings. I went into the phone settings on Ford's Sync settings. Go to phone and find your phone settings under the Ford system. That is the chime that is playing. Not Android Auto. Not your phone. So I turned off my notifications within the Ford Sync system for my connected phone. FINALLY the chime of torture is gone.

I just got my mach-e and the notification chimes are driving me crazy. I've tried looking for the sync system settings, but I can not seem to find them in the car or the fordpass app. Where do I actually go to? Thanks for your help.

So I figured it out. You have to change your phone from AA to regular Bluetooth. Then go to setting>messaging>sounds. Then select the sound off.

Does that mean you can not use AA? I like using Android Auto.

What I figured out is before the wifi/AA connects, I went to the phone settings on the car and turned off the notifications (bell button). But I have to do that every time I get in the car. Then can still use AA and not get notifications, but again, have to do that every time you start up the car.

I can confirm that you need to connect to the car with just Bluetooth. Not activate Android Auto. Then from there go into the usual phone settings in the car / phone list menu. Then then text messages, sound, turn it off. For some reason there are separate phone settings whether you're connected via Bluetooth only, or Android Auto. Then from there you can connect back to Android Auto and you won't get the phone Bluetooth chime that happens in the background.

I know this post is almost 2 years old, but I have to say.... Thank you!! I could NOT stop the horrible noise that is the SYNC text notification sound. Why is it so loud!

But if you want that ear shattering chime off, turn off "Text Messages" on your phone from whatever your car is called via Bluetooth to your phone. It's just that simple. Thank you for being the hero we didn't know we needed.
