If you have a heated garage turn up the thermostat to 75 degrees before you charge overnight.. Then in the morning your lie o meter will make you feel good again.

It's not just cold weather either. Before it got cold a few months ago, I took a two day trip (165 miles each way) that usually requires one charge on the way back. Starting at 100%, I had to charge once on the way because my efficiency got all the way down to 1.4 mi/kwh. Speed limit on that section of I-80 is 80mph which usually knocks my efficiency down to 2.1. Was quite alarmed at the drop in efficiency so I charged just to be safe. The next day, Murphy graced me with very strong headwinds on the same highway going back. Didn't start that leg at 100% so had to charge again.

Of course, my 2018 Mustang GT would have experienced a huge hit to it's mileage under those same conditions but it used much more energy dense fuel so it wouldn't have changed anything. I'm hoping solid state batteries will eventually get us all to that point of not caring how the weather effects efficiency as a matter of convenience.

But then your utility bill will give you anxiety all over again! 😅
