Do you consider the Mach-E an SUV?

Compact SUV or crossover. It's tiny compared to my Bronco or former R1S.

Hummer EV and R1S are the only two EVs I consider real SUVs. For gas vehicles it's Wrangler, Bronco, Grenadier, 4Runner, etc. Anything with a solid axle or locking differentials.

I've been willing to call my Mach-E an SUV for the past year until I got my federal tax credit. Now I'm now calling it a car. It's a little taller than most cars, but I'd say it's a lot shorter than most SUV's. It's funny that some people have raised their Mach-E's, and others have lowered. To each their own. I suppose you could call it a "Hatchback", but that doesn't really suit it either. My previous car could fold the back seats down and have way more space than the Mach-E with seats folded. Not a lot of storage space. Barely enough for 2 sets of golf clubs with the seats up. I did bring my golf clubs to dealer last winter just to make sure they fit (deal breaker).
I call it a hatchback.

Various federal agencies define SUvs based on approach and departure angle and whether it is AWD. Defining an SUV by cargo space? You really want a minivan or wagon.

Depends on how you define SUV. Does it have to be built on a truck frame? Then no.

But it is much bigger than a sedan. It's more of a CUV, but definitions are blurry. Manufacturers have been trying to find a happy medium which appeals to most people. That's why you see some many cars that aren't quite SUVs, still hold a lot of stuff. Have awd, and more ground clearance.

FWIW, my Model Y is listed as a 'wagon' on its insurance and as uncool as it sounds, it's probably correct, these are modern station wagons. But that doesn't sound cool, so S/CUV is commonly used. I think they're all similar to the old school outback "the world's first sport utility wagon".

It’s more of a CUV that fits a 6’8” dude with little issue.

I like the fit yet the handling is nice.

Normal SUVs like my wife Explorer just don’t handle the same.

That's why I don't see it as an SUV. A Mach-E and an Explorer should not be in the same category.

technically speaking it is not an SUV, as it's not a body on frame vehicle. It is a Crossover.

To all those who have lowered their Mach E's -- good luck trying to collect on insurance if you damage your battery due to a road hazard and have to fork out $25K for a new one.

Is road hazard damage to the battery a common issue? I haven't heard of any examples. Also not sure how it pertains to calling the Mach-E an SUV or car.

I don’t think I have seen a post on this forum of battery damage due to a road hazard, so I do not believe it is a common issue. ?‍♂?
