Does Ford Navigation ever update?

My Ford Navigation is so out of date. How often does this refresh? I do not have any pending software updates, apparently.

Driving locally I can tell that it has not been updated. If it is not up to date locally, how am I to trust when I am travelling?

Yes, I use Apple Maps as a backup.

What are your experiences with getting Ford Navigation to update? Thank you!

You don't get incremental updates for the Nav, you get constant data updates as long as your "subscription" is active. So the question is, is your nav subscription active?

That said, mine is active, but a road change over a month ago is still not showing for me.

I did find a "System Information" screen under Settings -> About on the nav though. My version is:

Software Version: 1.81.53
Navigation Version: 1.448.51

I would never use the built in Nav. It’s garbage. I only use because the car will only precondition for charging using it.

It will precondition with Android Auto/Google Maps also.

Only on VERY few cars. Not my 22 Permium at least, and I had it at the Dealer just last week and they verified no updates were pending.

Which brings me back to my original concern: if these maps are not regularly updated, and my local maps are out of date, how am I to trust them when I am in unfamiliar places?

Doubt it will help, but perhaps it’s worth a call to the

number they give you for the connected navigation.

I still have a drawer full of the free maps we used to get from Chevron and Shell stations. ??

OMG I remember back in the day when we used to rely on those on the ambulance and fire service to get to calls. Each area/page would have district numbers so you easily get to the page and look up the street address.

If you were in a state that had AAA they gave out free maps too.

I don't think I've ever taken a long trip on which I needed a recently updated map.

My street has not been changed in over a century. In 1917, they just changed the street name from a word to a number. The street itself has not changed in God knows how long. Ford navigation is sufficiently current for that one!

Ford Nav has worked great for me. Prefer the layout better of Sync better than CarPlay.
