Android Auto/Google Maps is updated continuously and uses the built in screen. No need to buy a Garmin.I guess my biggest problem with the maps is that the system is essentially using Garmin maps. In 2017 I purchased a Garmin nuvi 2797LMT GPS Unit for $269.99 from Amazon.com that came with LIFETIME MAPS AND TRAFFIC. In contrast I spent over $56,000 for a 2021 Mach-E Premium and the maps are only good for 3 years. After that Ford wants me to buy an updated set of maps for $80.00 per year.
Just for comparison I get 3 or 4 map updates every year.
So, I will just keep putting my Garmin up on the dashboard and drive-on. Oh, by the way the 2797 is a 8" diagonal screen so it is plenty big enough.
That is very interesting. How does this answer my original question?I would never use the built in Nav. It’s garbage. I only use because the car will only precondition for charging using it.
Very interesting. How does this help?Life’s seldom perfect. Like my momma used to saaay, ….
Well, times have changed. How does this post answer the original ask for assistance? In the good old days we would just at the nearest service station and get the newest map they had.
Well, it was in response to your lament:Very interesting. How does this help?
Does your Garmin have charging stations and precondition the battery while navigating to one? My guess is it does not.I guess my biggest problem with the maps is that the system is essentially using Garmin maps. Could be if you use it a lot and take lots of long distance trips. I still have 2 ½ years left on my free one so I’ll make that determination then. So, I guess you believe that is worth $80.00/year????????
The lack of Tesla 250kW charging stations open (non-magic dock) to Ford on Ford's navigation system is the biggest issue. My Ford Navigation is so out of date. How often does this refresh? I do not have any pending software updates, apparently.
Driving locally I can tell that it has not been updated. If it is not up to date locally, how am I to trust when I am travelling?
Yes, I use Apple Maps as a backup.
What are your experiences with getting Ford Navigation to update? Thank you!
