I'm waiting for the opportunity to say to someone that "my engine's gone" (as in an ICE broken down). Then open the frunk, froot and say "look my engine's gone". Sadly the opportunity hasn't arisen yet.

Start using the Frunk more. I’ve had people come over while shopping asking if I’m having engine problems because the hood is up.
In my friend’s apartment, I was parked in the underground and was reminded by a Karen who lived there that Im breaking a bylaw of working on my engine. I was simply putting my stinky gym bag away after using his gym.

At last weekend's Clean Cruise, a gentleman was cutting through the field and asked where the engine was. I explained things, and he clearly did not understand.

This weekend we have another event, just south of Ann Arbor. Regular car show with EVs in a lot around the corner.

Good point! Sadly, this is the second bottle of V8 for the frunk. A while back I noticed the og V8 looking decidedly worn and un-V8 like, so I replaced it. Foodland (A local chain) being what it is had exactly two types of V8 in large bottles — hot and spicy and low sodium. Who's going to believe a low sodium V-8?

Maybe Safeway in Kona has real V8. Stay tuned.

For Hawaii I’d expect a tropical fruit or Pineapple V8 variety.

I think it would be fun to put 8 clear bottles in the shape of a V with a tag on them that said Electric V-8 and then put in some LEDs that shine into the bottles. That way you can point out where the electrons are.

A random older gentleman came up to me to ask about my MME GT. He knew it was a Mustang by the logo. He asked if it had a 5 liter engine. I told him it didn’t have an engine. He looked a little puzzled. I told him it was electric and had electric motors. Then he asked if it had a V8. I reiterated it was electric with no engine. I told him it had 480 hp and I really liked it. I would have blown his mind if I told him it only had 1 speed. He obviously needs to learn more about electric cars.

Was he also yelling at you to get off his lawn?

One of the regrets I have about taking the delivery in Hawaii is that I did not take delivery at Serramonte Ford in the SFO area or at the Ford dealer in Keizer Oregon. I could have driven it up to see him and show him it while he was still alive. Still, I’m pretty certain he’d have liked it.

My neighbour is fully away that the Mach-E is electric, but I still don't think he quite gets it. I told him it was fully electric, with just electric motors, and he asked me to see them - so I opened the frunk and explained that there was not much to see. I really think he expected to see an electric version of an ICE engine - size-wise.

He was a bit confused.

You could slide under the back of the car and show him the rear motor… I love Ford’s little Easter egg:

All jokes aside, I actually swapped in a small block ford 302 cid. I lost horsepower and torque but it was worth it because now I have to do oil changes.
