My FFE has done it since 2015, the doors are still on but sounds like hell. The checks themselves are all cracked. Some silicon spray helped get rid of the grittiness, but they're still cracking.
My MME drivers door start about 5000 miles ago (40K, 3 years old). I wouldn't doubt the welds are starting to crack.
