I am having the same issue, going to the dealer for a formal check on the 13th. It is a known issue on the ford escape(recall issued). I have 2 popped welds, one on each side of the check strap.
I have the ford extended warranty and am over the manufacturer warranty.
Will be fighting for this one to be fixed on fords tab.

Official word from Ford and the dealer is that even under my extended warrantee the door click is normal wear and tear and I am SOL. I asked how other people are getting this fixed and they said… must be some other issue. Oh well, I guess inwill literally drive it till the doors fall off. Hopefully its not next month.

'21 job 1. My driver's door check welds have been cracked and clicking for at least 2 years. There's pictures somewhere in my post history. Having been a dealer tech myself for too long I knew better than to even bother with the dealer. Actually I haven't heard them clicking in a while. I can only assume they broke. Saw headline where Farley said Ford hasn't been competitive since 2009....can't imagine why. Pathetic.

Never buy first year vehicle adage seem to apply here. Bummer that. Ford should do something about it to honour the brave souls who bought their 1st year and 1st EV product.

If nobody ever bought a first year car they would never make cars. Im sure I could point to 3rd year cars that have issues too. Luck of the draw. What sucks is they wont acknowledge shitty welds. They shouldn't snap under normal conditions. Again - is what it is now. They gave me a bronco for a week. Im happy to get the mach e back. Even with a click!

I don't see how they can call cracked welds normal wear and tear, especially when there is an active program for repair or replacement of the door for the same issue on 2020-2023 Escapes (23B56). The Mach-E door was derived from the Escape. Are you sure they are seeing the cracks? Do you have photos you can share with Ford of the cracks? You have to show people it's more than just a noise issue.

They took my door apart, I had an invoice from another dealers service dept saying door needed replacement to fix the noise the tune of 3000.00. I shouldnt have to take my own door apart to get help.

So I guess to avoid this issue, I should limit opening the door fully and hang on to the door on a windy day? Or are the 23 models different than 21's?

Don't ever open the driver door, that will fix the issue. Also apparently bumper to bumper, everything covered - get our warrantee PLATINUM does not include faulty door welds cracking after 3 years. That must have been in the fine print. Right now the noise is only when fully extended. Ill just have to live with it.

Good question!

My '23 has CSP for the door welds, wonder if they are related to @Justconn1 issue ?

If I had broken welds, I'd have an attorney send a demand for safety repair done on Ford's dime.

My very basic knowledge of structural engineering says if weld spots are compromised, then your safety is also compromised.

My vin does not come up in the CSP so I have never heard about it. I sent my dealer that screen grab and asked for the hell of it. They just responded - no that CSP is for the door skirt and a paint issue. Not the safety strap click.

Nope...that's CSP 24N05 for paint blistering on the seams on the front, bottom, and back seams (or "hems") of the door skin interior facing edges of the doors. Where the outer door skin is crimped around the inner door frame. Not weld related.

I'm in the same boat and have made comments here and elsewhere. I have called Ford and have gotten nowhere. My click sound is getting way worse. Sucks that I drove hundreds of thousands of miles and have never had something like this where the manufacturer was so unhelpful and dismissive.

Mine was FINALLY fixed a while back. Ford and the dealer were both pointing fingers at each other. The dealer was saying Ford was back-ordered on doors, while Ford was saying it was all the dealer's fault.

I'm still less than 2 yrs in and 20k miles, so I was well under the original warranty though.
