In the couple hundred times I've opened my trunk from inside the car, I've almost always had to press the release button twice. So much so, that I started thinking it was intentional.

I've got it to pop open on the first hit maybe two or three times, though it's usually press it once, wait a couple seconds, then press it again since nothing happened the first time

This is with waiting for the painfully slow access screen to fully load.

No, it does not require a double press.

Are you holding your finger on the button for a second? I've found that a quick tap doesn't do it. I assume that's intentional to avoid accidental opening if the button gets grazed unintentionally.

Not sure to be honest. I'll give it a try.

I find these two buttons on the console to be finicky. Sometimes I don't keep my finger on the button long enough for it to open and then sometimes I keep my finger on it too long and that doesn't work either.

Yep, I found that the screen requires a long-ish press, rather than a tap. The physical button mod just requires a tap. 😊🐩

I may do that after I get the headlight switch replaced.
Yeah, whenever they do the recall, I am going to have to reverse the mod. 🤪🐩

Ford said it would be November of 2022, so in Ford time that's probably around next summer.
Maybe they hit the wrong key on the keypad and meant 2025? 🤪🐩

Nah, holding it down longer didn't work. It only opens on the second button push. Just the first time though. I just tried it a few times and it opens after the first push every time except the first.

If I come back to the car later, it's back to having to press it twice that first time.

Well holy crap, that is exactly what I wish my car had. I must now hate you for being clever enough to do this. :)

You can hate @markboris since I stole the idea from him. 🤪🐩
