Downgrading Reservation

Sorry if this has been asked before, but has anyone had experience downgrading their Mach-E order with their dealer?

I joined the waitlist for the FE on day 1, but after much consideration I not only wanna change the color from Grabber Blue to Infinite Blue, I want to change the FE model to Premium RWD.

My concern is because I pre ordered on day 1 and secured my $1000 deposit when they first opened up in June, I'll lose my good spot in line, since I predict I'll be in the first wave of orders

So..
1. Will I get a new reservation #?
2. In the event it is considered a new order, what's a reasonable estimate I could consider that I'll have the car driven home?

FE builds are being scheduled, so I would contact your dealer first thing and request the change. You should be able to keep your original reservation, unless there is something preventing them from being able to make a trim change in the system. If you have to place a new order, you probably won’t see it until summer, but could be later. Not enough info is available to make an accurate prediction.

My gut feeling is you would lose your place in the assembly line but your dealer might know for certain.

This is the kind of decision you needed to make long before now. They are now scheduling the first builds - which would be FE's ordered the first week. My guess is you either buy the FE that you ordered or you will have to place a whole new order at the back of a very long line. Whether you would get your deposit back is a matter for your dealer to decide.

Summer 2021 if you ordered with no prior reservation.

That doesn't mean he wasn't a "lurker" before.

Nonetheless the published delivery dates for FE's has always been 4Q 2020, so waiting until 15 days into the 4th quarter of 2020 to decide to change an order is a little ... presumptuous.

Agreed but I think it started settling in that I'm actually getting this car. And as someone who lives in Texas, didn't feel I need AWD. Plus I've been making life changes away from flashy stuff so I rather get a more humble color.

Lots of First Editions are probably going to be assigned build dates next week, so you better move fast with that change. However, it will probably move deliver from late this year to summer 2021.

If all else, I may just try to change the color. Worst part though is the dealership manager is out of town until Monday so

I changed my reservation to an order in June and then changed from Premium to Select in July (for my state you need to be below $50K to get state credit) and yesterday I added the Tech package (since with $1000 price drop it's still below $50K). My order/reservation number didn't change.
My dealer told my place in line wouldn't change (again I didn't start from FE).

My dealer stated that the factory was `viewing' orders to check which ones they could build.
He warned that it might be delayed if the added parts aren't in stock but since the Premiums and FE use that tech I'm not to concerned. Also note that they changed the date for Select from early 2021 to late 2020 (same as others). So I do believe they will build all 3 trim levels this year.

I'm hoping for Jan 2021 delivery.

Not that anyone asked, but I was able to downgrade my FE Grabber Blue to Premium RWD Infinite Blue, kept the same order number and order date of 6/30/20.

Hoping this means I still can be in the first wave or 2 of deliveries!
