I'm not sure if it's possible/easy, but if you're thinking of cancelling your order, I would suggest you support the upright, honest dealers out there who are not marking up cancelled orders, rather than let another dealer mark up your cancelled order by 10,000-20,000.

If it's possible, transfer your order to a dealer such as:

California:
https://www.southbayford.com/
https://www.santamariaford.com/

Full disclosure: I'm on both of their wait lists hoping for a cancellation. But besides that, shouldn't we support the dealerships that are taking the high road and really are customer focused?

I don't know if it's also possible to transfer your order to another person, or informally request it, but if you are up for it, message me :)

[Edit due to replies]
Sorry, "honest" is too strong a wording, a dealer has every right to price at whatever they want. People also have a right to try to get a better deal and appreciate/support dealers who aren't marking up.

It's up to the dealer and they most likely won't do it for you

This FAQ from Ford suggests you can change your dealer through Ford directly.

Whether you can specify with the new dealer that you'd like a particular person to get first dibs...yeah, I don't know...

https://www.ford.com/support/how-to...servation-faqs/#Can I select any Ford Dealer?

Relevant section:
"Can I update my dealer selection after submitting my reservation?
You may reach out to Ford Customer Support at 800-392-3673, hours of operation are M-F 8am - 8pm EST, for assistance in updating your dealer selection. When changing dealers, there will be no impact to your reservation ID, vehicle details, or associated timestamp."

The easiest explanation is it's not your car till you you pick it up and sign the paperwork.

So you’re asking people who don’t want their cars to do some extra legwork to move their reservation to a dealer that you’re on the wait list for?

Interesting approach. I tip my hat to your sir/madam.

To answer your last question: no, you can’t transfer to another person.

No, you cannot transfer your order to another person.
If you cancel your order, all Price Protection is lost. When the car comes in, the price will be the newer price.

There's absolutely nothing dishonest about an ADM. It's right there in writing on the sticker. So, I don't understand the misuse of the word honest with regards to ADM.

Chuck, that's fair enough. I apologize, the word "honest" is incorrect and too strong. I don't fault any dealer or think it's inherently wrong for them to set whatever price they want. It's a free market and a Mach-E is more of a luxury item than a necessity.

I guess my suggestion was more that I do appreciate the dealers who aren't marking up and would encourage others to support those dealers.

Thank you for your feedback.

Thank you for your response. Yes, it's just a suggestion if you want to support no-markup dealers. Whether it goes particularly to me or supports a dealer you appreciate, I thought I'd post the idea since I haven't seen it before.

No one is forcing anyone to buy a car from the lot at an extra price, go get a $5000 beater of offerup until your order arrives,s or simply pay the premium and get it today.

After this recall fiasco, I appraised my GT yesterday, current highest offer for me right now is $72k, my MSRP was $67K, this dealer is paying me $5k over msrp to buy my car so they can sell it to someone who doesn't like waiting at least $10k above msrp, if not even more, and it will sell.

I waited 15 months for my Bronco, kept it for few months, gas went up, I sold it, Carmax sold it in 10 days for $28k above msrp!!! what's the issue? they paid me over msrp as well, I waited, the 2nd owner didn't, no one forced them or me.

Yes, I already replied to Chuck that my wording was too strong. I wasn't trying to say a dealer doesn't have the right to price whatever they want and that anybody is "forced" to buy it at that price. My apologies, I guess I worded it too strongly.

I also don't think there's anything wrong with appreciating the dealers who aren't marking up and supporting them, or with a person who would like to pay MSRP.

Thank you for your feedback.
