I just got a low-mileage, pre-driven Premium from my dealer. When I start up a window pops up asking for a 4-digit driver ID. This pin wasn’t forwarded by the previous owner, and the dealer has no idea how to get it. Not having it precludes syncing FordPass to the car, etc. I called the experts at Ford to no avail.

I would think that there has to be a way to reset or work around it. A master reset did nothing.
Any ideas?

That's part of the fleet management tools to identify who's driving the car... Basically the operator will put in their pin so that they can track who drives it.

That's something that a dealer can't fix in house but they should call Ford Corporate and have them disassociate the car. You can also try calling and opening a case with the BEV team to see if they could assist. Resetting the car won't help because it will just pull the fact that it's enrolled in fleet management from the cloud again. They have to disable that.

Don’t buy unless it’s working there could be other glitches associated with the ID code

Dealer needs to do it. Gateway module (GWM) update in FDRS. Print off this PDF of the TSB and hand it to your service advisor, tell them they need to do it:

Dealer has it and the tech tried. He can't get in without the driver ID pin. Calling Ford Marketing on Monday to see if they cleared the previous owner's Fordpass credentials so he can update and I can get on with a new Driver ID. (was told it takes two weeks from when I bought it - that's about now).

Do you know if the previous owner was a regular individual or was it a fleet vehicle? Driver ID is only used on fleet vehicles connected to Ford Pro.

He's not going to have any idea what the PIN is because it was a glitch after an update. Apparently he just lived with it until selling the car rather than having the dealer fix it. I assume you're not able to do a master reset on your end which will clear ownership?
