Hello,
You all seem quite helpful, I was hoping you could ease my mind. First time ordering a car, never mind online. Placed on 1/3/22, dealer accepted order. On the website, it shows step 2 place order in progress. I'm guessing that is the resting state until she is scheduled for production?

The phrasing has me thinking I'm missing something, but I think it is set and just need to wait a long while.

Thanks all,

I would check with the dealer since they have to accept the order and enter it into their order bank. Once accepted then you need to wait until your dealer has an allotment slot available and then it goes into Fords scheduling for build at which time you get an estimated build week.
While it does take a while for all this to happen , your dealer will be best at estimating the approximate time frame.

Thanks, they seem to be quite on top of things, and have been pretty transparent this far, I just see that phrase and figured I'd try here before calling them when they open up. Thanks you ?

Oh of this I am aware lol
Great! Some people are not aware of this step. When you meet with the dealer, you must get the purchase agreement in writing. It must specify the exact price you will pay including X-Plan discount (if they do that). If you miss this step, some dealers will try to raise the price on you. If you have it in writing and they try to do that, Ford will help you get it resolved. If it is not in writing, Ford can do little to help.

What you did on-line was an order request. The dealer places the order with Ford. After you reach an agreement with the dealer, they submit the order to Ford. But Ford must accept the order before it goes into the scheduling process. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Ford took five months to accept the order from my dealer. Five months! It will hopefully be a lot faster for your order. I have seen others post that it was within days of the dealer placing the order. Lucky them.

It takes months to get the car produced after Ford accepts the order. There are a few tracking tools you can use to track your car, and Ford will notify you when your car reaches key milestones. After your car is shipped, you can ask your dealer for the Vehicle Visibility Report which will show where your car is in transit. Search this forum for VVR and you can read all about how it works.

Good luck!

I did get an email from Ford directly saying the order was confirmed ,and I have an order number. I also know the dealer has me at priority 10. Just that phrasing was weird on the order website. I'll work on the purchase agreement. Thai dealer is well known in a positive way around here so let's hope it goes smoothly.

Thanks again.

Understated but true. It takes a very long time, maybe 7-8 months.

Watch a lot of YouTube videos in the meantime.
It's looking more like 4 months for current new orders, my Nov. order is in production now.

I'm hopeful for the summer. The soonest I'd go into production is April since it looks like the production schedule to the end of March is out. I didn't expect it then, but hoping it's in the next batch.

And then yesterday I read an article about a new chip shortage. Unbelievable.

Wondering if that's why they are taking the hands free tailgate away due to that shortage? Who knows, sometimes looking in from the outside is rough ha.
