E-REVs - Extended Range EVs

Good or bad idea? Onboard generater (could be small gas engine) to charge batteries to extend range, not to drive wheels. More complexity, but could use smaller batteries.

The BMW I3s with range extenders tend to have more issues than the ones without range extenders. If the car manufacturer got good at it it could work decently, but it's not that far from hybrid vehicles today. I much prefer my full EV.

There most certainly are both oil and valves in an EV - just not in the sense that you’re thinking of them. And their failure or loss, could cause damage ?
