Earliest reservation still without car

This I don't know. I paid $1000 deposit and I assumed that was my order, on Dec. 1, 2020. But I read somewhere else here that Canadian dealers weren't even allowed to enter orders until late spring. I'll have to ask tomorrow for clarification. No one contacted me during this entire time.

If it’s the GTPE like in your profile, no one could convert a reservation to an order until April 27.

If all you did is put a deposit on Ford.com, you didn’t order a car, you just had a reservation. You have to convert it to an order.

You should have gotten multiple emails from Ford explaining the process. Did you meet or talk with a dealership to convert to an order?

I’m assuming the Canadian process is the same as the USA, but maybe someone from up north can verify.

Canada. The Canadian system is different than ours.

For the US, yes. If you had an early reservation and ordered at the same time, you got priority.

So the people who reserved a GT early 2020 and converted to orders on April 27-28 got July build dates.

I reserved Feb 2021 and converted April 28 and got a late Sept build date.

Reserved a GT on 11/18/19. Reservation #5818. I'm located in Southern Oregon and I should be taking delivery later this week. The trip from Kansas City to the dealership in southern Oregon takes 3 weeks.

For some reason I read this as it will take you three weeks to drive to Kansas. I was like is he walking? Super confused for a second.

As long as the dealer converts the pre-order to an order in a reasonable amount of time, there should be a build, and chip, and ship, in pre-order date system in place. That clearly isn't the case for many orders. Disappointing.

We placed an order on August 5 of 2021 for a Premium AWD ER in DMG. Our dealer gladly accepted our $1000 deposit. Have order number, but no VIN or build date. We only hear from our dealder when I stop by. Same line, "you'll get an email before we do".

Same here. I actually ditched my order and found a cancelled order locally. I couldn't wait that long while people who had no reservation and ordered in july 2021 already have build dates!

Reservation 11/2019, order placed GTPE 4/30. Build week 8/26. Still shows in production. Lists 10/31 delivery date, but i doubt that is happening. Rotting in Mexico likely waiting for a chip I assume. Irritated.

Sorry, not completely true. For both of my cars, Premium and now my GT, people that ordered well after me got build dates ahead of me. Again, I reserved Jan 2020 and put the order in the first day they opened and both times people that reserved or ordered months after me got build dates sooner than me. My build week for my GT was Aug 23rd and it still has not shipped. My dealer put my order in immediately as I saw the confirmed order in my Ford account.
so reservations might mean something but it doesn’t mean you will get your car sooner than some who just ordered a few months ago despite reserving a year and a half ago.

You just got unlucky with the chip shortage where people like me who reserved later but ordered a GTPE the 1st day, got their cars shipped sooner.

My build was exactly a month after yours, but shipped the same day it finished. My ETA is nov 4-10.

A missing piece to the puzzle is also the dealer. We don’t know how quickly or how slowly the dealerships did their part.

Maybe there is more to the back end but as soon as the dealer confirmed my order, it said so on the reservation site. So I am fairly sure my dealer put it in correctly.

There are others on here that put an order in late Spring for a GT (with no reservation) and their cars have shipped. I agree I have had some "unluckiness" in this process. very frustrating that it has happened with both of my Mache's. Reservation order may be "a" priority but it is clearly not the top priority in this process.

I will survive but for now it is frustrating.
