It has to happen when you have visitors and you want to show off the car  It was dark and as I approached the car in the driveway, no lights came on and the illuminated door buttons did not illuminate So, fumbling in the dark I found the drivers door button. I opened the door and no interior lights came on. All the passengers had to fumble for the buttons in the dark. The driver display semi woke up just displaying the gear selector positions and the main screen was dark. The passengers and I belted up (or tried to in the dark.) I had to press the front light interior buttons to work the lights. Non of the interior switches were illuminated.

I pressed the start button and everything sprang into life. The car complained that one of the seatbelts was not fastened. I checked and everyone had belted up. During the short drive to our destination (pub meal) the seatbelt warning was displayed with the blessed "bong" going off all the time.

After the meal I approached the car with trepidation and it woke up as I approached, everyone belted up and everything was fine. Perhaps I should name it Christine. I will contact my Ford dealer but does anyone have any theories. The car was charged up to 78% before the journey.

The thing about these cars is they are more computer than car. Sometimes they don’t boot up correctly and you have to turn them off and back on again.
If you can’t reproduce the problem, the dealer probably won’t be able to help. Do keep us informed though.

Just like some computers; she is a little “discombobulated” after a long sleep. My bet dealer finds no problem as the car will be fully awake during diagnostics

Just FYI, if it isn't doing it anymore, the dealer will not do anything. You'd just be wasting your time.
It might have thrown an error code? I won't know until I find out. It's not exactly normal behaviour so it's at least something to flag up with them. It's a short walk into town while their looking at it so I'm turning it into a positive and catching up with some Christmas shopping. In any case I'll report back on the result in case it helps someone else.

If you are at all mechanically-inclined and it’s still misbehaving, try disconnecting the 12V battery for 15 minutes then reconnecting it. That would act like a cold boot on a computer. ?

I think when a got the new download (1.7.1) it caused some goofy stuff. All is good now.

It's an option I might do, however I'll log the fault(s) with the dealer officially by taking it in. I've seen videos on taking the plastic covers off but knowing my luck I'll break/lose clips. If the dealer breaks anything they'll have to replace it.

I haven't got 1.7.1 yet so I can't blame that. (Got 1.4 and 1.6 though)

Same issue as I am having. My car has been in to my dealer once already but it didn't bring up any fault codes and didn't fix. Have spoken to Hannah (MME Concierge for UK) who has replied to me with this:

Our Product and Engineering team have asked for the dealers to escalate the issue to the Technical team. Apologies, but it doesn’t look an update via Power-Up is available for the issues you are experiencing and it has to be raised via the dealer.

So reading between the lines, it is an issue that hasn't been brought to Ford's attention yet so when your car goes to your dealer make sure that you ask them to inform the tech team so that they can investigate and hopefully come up with a fix.

If you are trying to show off the car, make sure your phone is open to the FordPass app before you approach it.

I always enable bluetooth on my phone before approaching and unlocking the car. Do you mean this? I have the FordPass app on my (Android) phone. We don't have PAAK in the UK. We get 2 keys which look like Ford Fiesta keys.
