Electrical System Drain. Service Required.

I’ve had a 2023 Mustang Mach E for a little less than a year and every week to two I get the “Electrical system drain. Service Soon” message.

I’ve brought it into the dealer more times than I can count, every module is up to date, battery has been replaced, I keep my keys in a faraday box, and I don’t even have the FordPass app anymore.

There is literally nothing connected to the car either wired or wireless, and yet, this morning… a week after getting the car back from the Ford shop yet again… “Electrical system drain. Service soon.”

This is the most frustrating issue. You’d think Ford would have the fundamentals down for this thing but they just don’t and it is the first and last Ford I will ever buy.

I have received multiple charging fault errors over the past year as well, once with the car entering “full accessory mode, please stop soon” slapping my dashboard screen when I turned the car on in the morning.

Any ideas as to what the dealership should try next? They seem to not know a damn thing about what they are doing.

That may be the problem. The 12 volt battery charges while the car is being driven or actively charging. Low miles can be a problem.

My MME had less than 5k miles when it was less than a year old. I got a more friendly message about system shutdown to conserve the battery. I got a battery replaced under warranty and it is running strong. Your problem sounds more serious than a bad 12V battery.

I have blissfully ignored that electrical system drain warning more times than I can count for three years and 40,000 miles. It means nothing.

Given your low mileage, I’d have them test the 12v battery.

Assume you are not driving it often, and the 12v could be dropping low due to that.

I've never seen it in two years and 23000 miles.

They already replaced the 12v battery about a month and a half ago.

I think I would try taking it to a different dealer. Wouldn't hurt to call Ford Customer Service and ask for the BEV team. Ask them to open a case for you. That can help get things moving in a focused way. My guess is that you either have a module that isn't turning off when it should, or possibly a wiring issue. Is there any chance you might have rodent damage? (It's happened to a lot of people here.)

Why don't you get an OBD2 scanner and read the DTC codes yourself using an iPhone app to figure out what the exact issue is?

I think you should share your VIN with one of us to verify if you are actually fully updated (dealers frequently lie about that) and to see what codes you currently have. Send me a DM or post on the "post here to check for updates" topic.
