What is up with that lurch forward? I had a similar experience as you did in the video. When I started to push the pedal again, it did that same lurch forward.

That lurch forward happened to me. AEB did nearly nothing at 5-10mph, but that lurch forward cost me $2,000 to another driver and a bent hood.

Would be good for them to get that checked out and fixed - asap.

When you started to push which pedal?

That line to the beltway north from the GW parkway can be treacherous during rush hour... used to be stuck in that line daily when I worked at NIH.

What is the context here? Were you on BlueCruise? Were you driving manually, properly come to a stop, then immediately go to WOT, as soon as the car ahead began moving (this would be normal practice where I live), necessitating the car to engage AEB on your behalf? Or did you slam on the brakes yourself then the driver ahead did what appeared to be a panic stop?
(This, by the way is why I always hated having to go down to the DC area for work in a past life. The traffic there is insane.)

I get it occasionally, even without a hard stop. I think the brakes are programmed awfully slow on the release, so you're giving it too much pedal by the time they let go. Def a problem that needs to be refined out.

If you mash the brake pedal hard(ish) you have to be prepared for it, even if you're just at a stop sign and push the brake pedal to hold out of habit.

Not using BC, although it sometimes works along that stretch. Just driving in the rain. Below the limit, but too fast for conditions.

My recollection is that I had begun to slow then realized the Mazda was panic stopping. I had the brake pedal fully engaged when I heard the alert.

Not 100% sure why it lurched. Definitely unexpected and concerning in the moment. I released some pressure after the initial stop, but don’t think I came all the way off the pedal. Did re-engage with force when I realized it was moving forward again.

Looks like the Mazda moved forward after his initial stop. The pick up behind me also lurched after his panic stop—then he was tagged from behind which explains his final shudde.

EDIT: It does look like my brake lights go from on to off then on again in their reflection on the Chevy. Shouldn’t Auto Hold have kept braking enabled even if I released pressure on the pedal?

Hah! I know that road and remember that day.

Your video just got me to reevaluate my decision to only install a front dash cam.

Glad you're o.k.

One would think so, but it may be the brake lights only indicate that you're slowing down, not that you're stopped.
