In Alaska, most cars have a plug on the front for an engine block heater, oil pan heater, battery charger, transmission heater. Things like that. Obviously the Mach-E doesn't have an engine or oil pan needing heat, but what about the 12V battery? Is it worth putting a smart trickle charger on it for winter use? Or does the HV battery keep it topped off? I've read here about people having issues with their LV battery draining--worried about that happening at -50.

Are there any heating elements that would be worth installing? Or does the preconditioning system handle all that sufficiently? If It does, I can simply charge the car rather than plug something else in.

Maintaining the battery temp is why, when it’s cold, the car will recommend that it be plugged in when not in use. The car will use the high voltage battery to maintain the 12V battery.
The people who have had the 12V battery problems has mostly been shown to be a bad junction box (contacts sticking within the junction box, perhaps exasperated by the cold) or software. So a warming blanket on the 12V battery should be unnecessary. Just plug it into one of those block heater outlets with the supplied EVSE.

I've had my Mach E in Fairbanks for almost a year. No need for a block heater. It will start fine regardless of in garage or out. If the car is cold soaked and you don't set a departure time or remote start, it will take longer to heat the cabin than an ice vehicle.

Sounds good to me. Firsthand local experience is valuable.

AIso, I'm fairly sure I've seen your car several times.

How about a insulated blanket for the 12 volt battery or heater blanket. However, this is from a person that lives in California. Snow is something to you drive to, snowboard in and leave to go back to warmer weather. ;)
We do use those on our ICE vehicles but as Mopey sated the HVB will take care of the LVB if system is working correctly. Some people up here use a trickle charger vs a battery blanket. Personally I will never be without a heated garage again!
