If I were you, I’d move on and spare myself the agitation.
This is the problem with public L2 charging though, especially the ABC approach (Always Be Charging), and even more especially if it's free... it's training people to always be looking for chargers with expectations of snagging one. When you get into that mindset, it's hard NOT to look to see if it's in use when you're at that location.

This whole thing is heading for an aggravating mess if we don't stress "charging where you sleep" as the paradigm for nearly everyone, leaving little need to even bother with nickel & dime ABC scavenging. Apartments & condos need private L2 on property. Hotels need private L2 on property. The grocery store doesn't need public L2. It's almost more of a negative than a positive for the business. It usually ends up being a resident living nearby, or an employee, that ends up hogging it most of the time and pissing off the actual customers of the business.

Hello, I need help on making a flyer to put on someone windshield that takes up the only working EV charger at my local Kroger.

For over 3 months now when I go to my local Kroger to shop there is a Polestar 2 plug into the only working ChargePoint plug. It is always at 100% charged and because it a Polestar it is locked in place and cannot be removed without the key fob. I have written an email to Kroger but you know how that will go. I also let an employee know but they just said it maybe someone from the local KFC. (I don't think so) I like to have some flyers made to point out how uncool that is to take up that space without swear words but make it clear that they are nothing but the scum of the world.

Thank you
Its not worth a parking lot rage. I am a firm believer after watching parking spot rages on youtube to move on.

You could try calling the city to have them towed, if they have a law against parking in EV spots while not charging.

If it's on private property, I doubt that that would happen.
It depends on the state/municipality. Some have fines or towing penalties for blocking a charger.

I had a guy in our apartment complex who use to put “you park like an ahole” cards with “NOT AN EV” written on the bottom for gas cars that would ICE charge spots (it was actually a real problem because there were plenty of spots but people would ICE the spots and maybe leave one open for an actual EV. I guess some of the spots were closer to their apartments) Not sure where that dude went, but he will be missed.

Kroger should just remove the EVSE and eliminate the problem.

"Please move your car when it's done charging so that other vehicles can use the charger. I see you're always parked here at 100%. I've informed management and they are considering their options to tow your vehicle if this occurs again."

I think Lee's idea is the best. It's worth a try. Frankly, I'm a bit surprised at the apathetic responses by some of the others here, and I wholeheartedly disagree with those suggestions. I think copying and pasting Lee's suggestion is a good idea. At least make them wonder if something might happen if they keep doing this. Give them a little discomfort!

“Just wanted to let you know that I’ve seen people scratching your car when it’s plugged in and has stopped charging. P.S. I’ve chased them away when I saw what they were doing.”

BTW, I live in Seattle. Being passive aggressive is a way of life here. ?

I’d just let it go. But if you must, buy something like a fake bike lock that makes it look like the charging chord is attached to their nearest tire. Add a card that says to get code to unlock your vehicle , please pay your idle fees at … <insert your choice of funny website here?>

This issue is 100% on Kroger. They have no clue how to manage EVSEs. All they need to do is make it 2-hour free charging, then $0.49/kWh till full, then $10/hr idle fee. If parked but not plugged, tow the damn thing. Problem solved.

As EV drivers, it’s not our job to manage parking lot rules. We don’t go around checking if cars parked in handicap spaces have tags. It’s literally none of our business, except to notify the store. And perhaps flag the charger in PlugShare.

I’m sympathetic to the OP. While lots of people are a-holes, some are just clueless. Leaving a note like what Lee suggested could be all that’s required to get them to change their behavior. But if that doesn’t work (as evidenced by future continued bad behavior), I’d just let it go. No sense bring into an incident over it …
