Here’s a clown of ours: parked, not plugged.

It hurts my eyes to see that cord management in the wrong place. It's pulling too hard on the charger side (stressing the EVSE connection), and letting the cord drag on the floor on the car side. The clamp needs to be moved to the center.

Public charging sucks, and the main reason it sucks is because of free charging. The free charging a-holes think if they get there first, they own the charging space. It pisses me off so much, my normally civil behavior might turn violent. And I am not a violent person. I just want free charging banished everywhere, and then the a-holes will go away. Well, I guess except for the ones who park there and don't plug in. I am at a loss for how low those people are.

Here is what I have put on cars in the past:

Unfortunately we have to come up with a name other than iced for when one of our own parks and doesn’t charge.

Need a better name than ICEd period. It just breeds more division and animosity between EV and ICE.

When an ice parks at a charger, the driver already decided to be an asshole. It’s not that we (EV drivers) are creating division and animosity. The problem is that there is an equal percentage of assholes driving EVs as there is driving ice.

Yes, there's asshole drivers of both. But the term used is a dig at ICE. And not even a term for the drivers but the whole class of vehicles.

Calling the offender an asshole is fitting. Calling it ICEing is not. That's like saying "Damn men!" when someone that happens to be a guy steals your parking spot.

Not saying it's a federal case, of course, but it is a dig at ICE vehicles (vs EV).

I’m okay with someone saying I “EVed the pump” when I do this:

Of course I had a reason to do it (clean my windshield) and stayed with the car at all times while my wife got beer from the store.

We’ll just have to agree to disagree ?.

Your use of "one of our own" in your prior post illustrates the divisive nature/intent of the term better than anything else.

People are certainly allowed to propagate divisiveness and breed contempt, of course. It's pretty much the way of the world now. I just don't think it's helpful for the acceptance of EVs to irk the people that advocates are trying to convert. But, to each their own.

Bruh. Let me get this straight: calling a Mach-E owner “one of our own” on a Mach-E forum is divisive? LMFAO. I have one word for you: Hogwash.

Oh, and I won’t dignify the rest of your post with an answer. I think we’re done here.

That is total bullshit. Parking an ice at a charger is commonly / widely described as “icing the charger”. I wish I was clever enough to come up with it on my own. Describing the behavior of blocking a charger with a car that uses a propulsion technology that makes such car incapable of using one is not divisive. It’s fucking accurate.

Similarly, calling a Mach-E driver “one of our own” on a Mach-E forum that brings this same vehicle’s owners together is also accurate.

I don’t know what problem you are trying to solve, but I clearly can’t help you. Take care.

I was referring to use of the term "ICEing". But whatever dude. If you don't see it as a dig at ICE vehicles, you're not gonna get the point.

Have a good day.

I took up a pump spot yesterday despite driving an EV, but I was getting gas for our generator (power is still out, since Monday). Wishing we had vehicle to load, because I did not miss the smell of gas or exhaust fumes. Someday!

But this hog is so cute, especially with her red toes! (Though I'll admit they do look a bit bloody?)

Some interesting comments in this thread. In general, shaming is not an effective persuasion method, so I'm not a fan of some of the suggestions that involve passive-aggressive (or just plain aggressive) placards and notes.

It's much more productive and constructive to educate politely and assume the best of people.

Most people are not trying to be a-holes, but we all have blind spots. The vast majority of people think of themselves as generally decent human beings and it's natural to get defensive when someone implies that we are not decent human beings, and getting defensive is not conducive to changing behavior.

This thread sounds like the Toyota EV that parks at Red Rock Casino on the free level 2 chargers. Sometimes, it's plugged in, sometimes not. But it's their daily. Other times, it has the company of a Tesla. That one doesn't plug in at all.

I'll repeat what I said before. If you can't charge at home, sit this EV thing out for a while. Fighting over chargers is taking years off your life and ruining your happiness. Proverb #2: Keep an ICE vehicle as a backup plan.
Confrontations in todays world is far different today then it was in the 60s growing up as a kid. Its the anger, rage and polarization. Keying ev, icing chargers, coal rolling, road rage and guns. Fender benders turning into murder scenes. Advice to all today is walk away to live another day.
