A big difference between EVs and gas vehicles - with an EV, as you evacuate, and top off at open chargers, you impact no one else. With a gas vehicle, if you top off, you use gas someone else may need. Florida had thousands of gas stations without gas after this hurricane. Many are still without gas.

And how many people are sitting with full tanks and not going anywhere causing others to hunt for fuel and wait in long lines?

If everyone was driving an EV, of course it would be different - it would be the future with a different reality than than today’s gasoline/ICE model. The evolution will probably move to longer range, faster charging AND more charging infrastructure.
Yes. And when planning for the future, Florida will definitely need to think about hurricane evacuations before putting in EV mandates like the west coast did.

Just another reason I think series hybrids are “the future” more so than pure EVs.

Solves a lot of the problems. As good for the environment most of the time. No need for extra infrastructure. Much longer range. And they don’t need batteries as large.

Dude, I am never running out of toilet paper ever again. That was a bad experience. So yes, I am one of those...

Funny toilet paper story. When the dockworker strike was threatened, people went out and bough toilet paper (which is made in the US and not impacted by ships...). Anyway, after not having an adequate supply during Covid, and having to buy name brand instead of Costco at Costco (for 50% more money), I've told my wife that when we open the large package, buy another next time at Costco. She didn't follow that logic lately...

At Costco a few weeks ago, there was no toilet paper at all. Luckily, we've got enough, and it should be back in stock now. What's really funny is that many grocery carts Costco paper towels in them. That's a big wipe!

The Japanese have taught me toilet paper isn’t that important anyway.

My friend raves about his Japanese style bidet. I might get one sometime soon.
