Exploring FORScan Audio options

Has anyone with the B&O system used FORScan to adjust audio settings? I have already selected DSP 1 which gave me a much needed mid bass boost (even if still not great). The other two settings that are of interest to me (1) Whether disabling ANC makes a difference in audio quality, and (2) whether I need to disable DSP over A2B if I am installing my own sound processor. I am hoping someone else has explored this or can recommend other ford B&O forum I should check with ?.

From what I’ve found out in my limited testing of the EQ settings, the default “flat” sounds the best, at least to me.

You have a lack of mid bass and I have just the right amount boarding on a bit too much. This could be because my doors (as well as the entire car) are heavily deadened and my final audio output is coming from an external amp and not the B&O.

ANC should be disabled (it was in my car by default) as there are no microphones (three are required) nor ANC software present in the ACM or DSP.

I would think you would want to disable the DSP if you will be installing your own processor/amp. When I disabled it just to test, I got a very flat sound that was much lower in volume.

right now, my planned setup is:

BLAM signature speakers on dash, center and front doors

Helix DSP 8 MK2 processor/amp

oem speakers for back doors

Clark synthesis gold transducer under each front seat running on a small 4 channel amp

sound deadened front doors (and dash if possible)

One question I have, is given that it is an electric car, is there anything I really want the installers to steer clear of? My assumption is that the wires will run in areas that have nothing to do with the propulsion system. But I thought I would ask. I selected an installer who does many electric cars and all high-end vehicles with the assumption that they know what they are doing..

Sounds like it will be a nice system once installed and I’m sure you will be happy. Nothing much in the dash to deaden (I did nothing in there). I don’t use the center speaker at all. Always disconnect them in every car I’ve had starting with the ‘14 Escape. I don’t think there is anything. You need to worry about with the wiring. Like you said you’re taking it to someone who does many of these and I’m sure they have it down. Looking forward to hearing about the final product when done.

Not sure about the base system but we're discussing the B&O system in the Mach-E and the rear 6.5" door speakers have polypropylene cones with a foam surround edge. They are still junky speakers but many of us only use them for rear fill so not like they have to be of the highest quality. They don't seem to mind running with extra power (50W RMS) but I wouldn't push them with much more.

Yea, they're the same. The B&O system has the DSP with the B&O stamp on it, but all the door speakers are Motorcraft 25w rated garbage. I replaced the rear door 2-ways with a set of aftermarket components and the difference was drastic. I can actually hear the rear speakers now and it has a nice surround effect with music or movies.

To the point of the thread: I noticed no change when I disabled ANC.

I don't use rear speakers for fill. Unless I have passengers, which is not often, the rear door speakers are never playing. My home audio system doesn't have rear speakers, and don't want them playing in my car either. Everyone has there own way of listening to music and everyone's hearing is a little different.

I'm basically with you on that but I have my rear set very low. The way I sit in the car, I easily hear the left rear door tweeter which distracts from the front imaging so that's why I keep it low (and as I stated before, I disconnected the center dash speaker). My dedicated home audio system is also two channel where as if I wanted to listen to multi-channel, my dedicated home theater is a 12.1 system. Talk about immersing you in sound......

I go back and forth. While I get the value of a two channel system, there are benefits of using quality rear speakers. For example, increasing mid to low bass, thereby reducing reliance on subwoofers. With an active DSP, you can filter out the higher frequencies so that you don’t hear voices from the back.
