I got a chargepoint L2 charger installed nearly immediately at my house after purchasing my '24 awd premium x and shelved the free Ford mobile charger. But on a whim I packed it for a recent trip to the shore, and it came in mega-handy. The distance to the beach was 90+ miles and we took various excursions there. But because we were mostly on the beach all day and the car was parked in a driveway at a beach house with a 110v receptacle in the garage, I plugged in the FMC and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of miles I could put on even at L1. We used the MME for a week and drove it home without having to pay to DCFC. All in all, great to have that as an option on vacation.

Used as-intended. Me on the other hand? I use it as an EVSE because I can't convince my wife to let me pay to have one installed.

Check for rebates from utility company.

I always use my L1 at hotels that don't have destination chargers. The manager just shrugs when I ask if I can plug in, so I sleep for 8 hours and get 30 miles free.

Same here… I also have to dig 70 feet and add a power management system to add a charger. I slow charge at work and so does my wife. Haven’t even charged at home in a month. Unless you drive 60+ miles a day you don’t even need an L2.

Do you have any fear or someone stealing the charger if it's just plugged int outside all night? I don't think it locks in place like other chargers, but I've heard many times that people just have a cord running out to their car and don't seem too worried.

So far I've done this 8 times and no theft. I think most people just see it as an extension cord and nobody bothers stealing those. Like everything else it's all about what the area is like in terms of crime. I probably wouldn't charge in downtown Chicago, but in the middle of nowhere the risk is pretty low (but you're right never zero)
