A Tesla to J1772 charging adapter is available from Walmart. It's marked down from $100 to only $17. The adapter gets outstanding reviews, to boot! Also, I use a $22 "no-name" adapter purchased from Ebay and it has worked perfectly for every charge. Search the forum for reports on the Lectron and the A2Z adapters and then decide for yourself.

They were Tesla- they did look older, but we used newer ones at a Holiday Inn in Nampa and they worked fine too. And yes, I'm perfectly knowledgeable about all the various charge plugs and adapters.

You're confused. You cannot plug a Tesla Destination adapter into your Mach-E without an adapter. Some (a few) are Tesla Universal Chargers with adapters you click on by pushing nozzle up, but the majority need an adapter.
You are wrong- I've used them three times without an adapter- see Glof's comment.

Thanks for the tip. Just ordered one of those. Can't go wrong for the price!

How can the almost “square peg” Tesla NACS plug be fitted into the J1772 L1/2 round “hole”/socket? If I’m reading this thread correctly, a couple of people seem to be saying they’ve found a way to do so without an adapter. That’s not possible.

It is not possible. Tesla has some dual hose chargers.

Thanks all for your responses. We knew our first trip charging would contain some adventures - headed out in a bit to a supercharger and breakfast to top up before heading home. For insight - we are in NC - this was a white small charger at a Holiday Inn - I used my Lechtron adapter recommended on here and it fit in that (https://a.co/d/9XxjbHs) It is in fact a supercharger adapter, but it fit and activated the wall unit to cycle to blue and then green and then blue and then it failed on my side. I took a picture of the side so I could reference later to see how I would know it wouldn’t work (The QR code didn’t work)

Looking back this wasn’t in the FordPass - so perhaps that should have been my clue?

Looking forward to mastery of charging but for now excited to drive again.

Tesla has a unique connector on their hoses. The same connector is used on Tesla SuperChargers as on Tesla Destination Chargers.

On our vehicles, there are two ports. The top round port is called J1772. Then, when you open the flap, the entire port is called CCS1.

To convert Tesla to J1772 requires a special adapter, which is NOT the one you have. So, yes, the Tesla plug fits in your SuperCharger adapter, but the pins it's powering are the bottom CCS1 pins, which are not used by level 2 charging. Hence, your failure to charge.

As I stated in my first reply, you need to buy a Stellar adapter. 10% off with code FORDFORUM. https://a2zevshop.com/collections/charging-adapters/products/a2z-stellar-plug?ref=Typhoon

Great! If you like it, leave a good review on the Walmart site.
