For a vehicle intending to be road trip worthy, the range is abysmal. I'm nervous with my select's 240-ish miles range going anywhere out of my immediate area. Imagine driving all around the country with only 20-ish more miles in a big vehicle like this.

Conceptually this is a win, in execution the range is such a glaring flaw it's a clear loss. If it survives long enough, new battery tech in the future (less weight/size, and greater power density) this vehicle has a chance.
Things the shape of a refrigerator weighing 6000lbs are not efficient... and they aren't going to be in the future. The future of road tripping is lots of chargers.

Without the retro two tone paint, it could be a Toyota or Honda from behind. As Jeff Probst says on Survivor, "I got nothin' for ya."

I read a review on-line that although it has a lot of cool factor, it's not really a good bang for the buck. Too many better options out there.
Neat! What are the better options? We currently have an ICE Chrysler Pacifica that nicely handles our 8 ft long windsurf gear. The Buzz is 5" taller and with seats removed, offers five inches higher storage access in the rear. It's much nicer than the Ford E-transit and will fit in our garage, which the transit will not.

So what do you recommend as an alternative? Totally agree that it's pricey!

Cabin air filters are simply a money grab. Take it and leave it out. LOL.
If you have a crappy one yeah.

I and many others replaced with the upgrade filter and it’s a night and day difference in terms of outside odors. I don’t smell those stinky diesels anymore.

After a year I start smelling them again and swap the filter.

highly recommend

I maintain that a Buzz's main competition isn't other EVs, it's other minivans. If you're in the market for a minivan, you're a particular kind of enthusiast: the kind that is enthusiastic about great function over great form.

The form of the Buzz is cool and all, but not worth the extra money because the function is compromised. You can't stow the third row, for example. You can't have real opening rear windows (or even their window switches). And if you've played with one, you know it's freakishly tall - like SUV tall. And yeah, people buy minivans to drive them on big adventures.

And yeah, I'm that minivan dad. We have a Toyota Sienna (and the Mach-E, obviously). The Sienna's no beauty queen, but she's been an amazing adventure mobile. She's been across the country (with kids, bikes, tents, coolers...). We got 36 miles per gallon and drove it (in 2021) into places that I couldn't take the Buzz.

Newer battery tech is improving, the days of a 400-500 mile range EV are not that far off (higher density battery packs will weigh the same and occupy the same amount of space as current packs). Charging infrastructure will always matter, but the flexibility doubling the range on a vehicle like this is immense. Especially with actual outdoorsy stuff, where days at a time are spent away from civilization, and that extra range is what gets you back to a charger.

Unfortunately this 'adventure bus' isn't anything more than a mini van when it comes to practicality with the current range, as previously posted. No one is going to spend $60+k for the functionality they can get at $45k with another vehicle with similar utility.

Thanks for the thread drift, and being frontrunner in the 'dumbest car post on the internet this week' competition.

Pure hocum. Secretly remove the cabin filter from someone's car and 99% would never know it was missing.

I find it amusing Ford provided a cabin airfilter for the Gen 6 Bronco. A ORV with a removable top and doors. How ridiculous.
Not exactly. @Mach1E was referring to the activated charcoal cabin air filters which actually do filter out a lot of the fumes and stuff from the outside. A non-charcoal filter like originally installed in our MMEs would be very hard or impossible to tell from not having one in there. There's a night and day difference in a relatively new charcoal filter and either a heavily used one or a non-charcoal filter. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ©

Of course, the amount of dust that accumulates in the interior with a filter in place can be discerned over time, even with a non-charcoal filter when comparing with a filter and without. 😁🐩

My super power (or super curse) is a strong nose. I’m the first to know when the garbage needs to go out or if there is a bad smell.

The upgraded Mach E interior filter makes a huge difference and I can tell when it needs replacing based on when I can smell other cars exhaust again.

Try it yourself and decide. It’s only $20.

Here are 10 pages of discussion on it which eventually got to people trying and liking it:

https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/new-premium-cabin-air-filter-from-ford.31484/

I use it for the smells, but also suffering from allergies it helps with dust too! If you still think it’s just hocum, feel free to remove the air filters from your home HVAC system and report back.

Okay, so are you now trying to imply that cabin airfilters are required to support automotive HVAC equipment longevity? Because home HVAC systems filter inside air that already has smells in it (from the kitchen and/or bathrooms). I have two vehicles both that do not have cabin airfilters. One vehicle is 28 years old and 200,000 miles with a perfectly functioning HVAC, and the other is 16 years old at 104,000 miles also with a perfectly functioning HVAC system.

Hocum. Money grab. The ID. BUZZ is just one example.
What? No.

The home HVAC example is just proving that the filters do what they’re supposed to do- filter air.

A basic interior air filter in a car will help improve air quality.

A good one will help with smells.

Side note- I think you mean ā€œhokum.ā€ šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

But no, it’s not hokum. The ability to filter out 99.97% of particles actually does have a practical application. Some light reading:

"Note that the cabin air filter is entirely different from the air filter found under the hood of vehicles with internal combustion engines. That filter treats only the air going into the engine and assures that no debris or foreign matter makes it into the cylinders."

Really? Wow, I needed Car and Driver to explain that? LOL.

But really, just yesterday, in my 2022 Bronco, a Chevy Dually w/stacks pulled into traffic and coal-rolled to get up to speed. I was some 180 feet behind and at the first hint of coal smoke, with this thread in mind, I closed the recirculation flap on the HVAC well before I hit the black smoke, still smelled the diesel exhaust.

Hocum.

And if you have the upgraded filter, even without hitting recirculation you won’t really smell it.

I used to be very annoyed how this car won’t stay on recirc mode (lots of stinky cars in Florida with no emissions testing here). But since I got the better filter, don’t need it.

The regular stock filter didn’t do much for smells but still helped with my allergies.

Are we using old English now? 😜

I bet you left your windows rolled down.
