Hello all.

I picked up a FitCamX dashcam (front and rear) on prime days, but I haven't installed it yet. I've been avoiding the installation because getting the rear camera wires under the pillars and headliner is giving me some anxiety. Has anyone installed this? Can you provide insight?

Thanks in advance,

I installed it a couple of years ago and eventually uninstalled it a few months later. I don’t know if it’s been fixed, but the tap into the car’s power line caused many camera errors and it would cancel Blue Cruise at the worst times. After I removed it, I stopped getting front camera errors.

There's a video on YouTube for the Fitcamx install.

I referenced that l and another one to install my Viofo setup.

Watch the videos, going slow and, giving yourself an afternoon is what I suggest.

I have installed a couple of these in my 2021 and my 2024. Not a big deal. I do not believe that a front/rear setup should be powered through the mirror circuit so I also hard wired the power to the fuse box in the footwell. The worst thing was mounting the rear camera in my 2024 since they changed the design and I did not want to mount the thing to my tinted rear glass. I ended up fabricating a cantilever bracket so that I could mount the camera to the plastic trim. My older rear setup I could mount directly to the plastic trim. 😁🐩

I also have a '24 with front and rear dash cams (Viofo, not FitCam) and would love to see your cantilever bracket. I initially wanted to do an off-glass bracket thing for the rear cam but couldn't figure out a good design.

I ran the wiring for the rear camera along the sides and sort of near the moon roof, routing it behind airbags as necessary. Pulling the headliner away in the area I needed for routing the wire was relatively simple, as they were held by magnets in those areas. I never ran any of it through the pillar covers. I have it powered off the mirror circuit. I do not like to disagree with @HuntingPudel on such matters, but I did this shortly after the FitCamx was released, and, as we know, ignorance is bliss, but I've had no issues with it.

Here is the old setup, which I like better. 😁🐩

Since the rear window has a curvature to it and the bracket is mounted off center so that the lens is centered, the bracket has a slight twist to it to keep the camera level-ish. I think it’s a few minutes of angle off. Bad sniper here. 🤣🐩

EDIT: In both cases I ran the rear camera cable through the flexible conduit on the passenger side, down the C-pillar, through the gutter on the passenger side, merged with the power cable near the fuse box, then up the A-pillar (behind the air bag), then through the headliner to the front camera. 😁🐩
