Greetings all
After my free charger installation
When I plug into my 2024 MEGT
All lights on charger are blue
It starts flashing then the last bulb
Changes to yellow
It charges as normal but only 10.3 kwh
Ford was no help. Should I worry??
Thanks to all

Your rate is about what is expected. 48A * 240 V = 11.5kW if lossless which isn't realistic to expect. You're getting a rate I typically get as well. If there's yellow and no other color, then you have a charging fault. See your FordPass for that message. But if its mostly blue with last being yellow, its indicating a reduced charging rate but if its saying that with your 10.3kW rate, then I wouldn't think that would be '"reduced" unless you have the amperage setting on the charger set to something greater than 48A in its settings perhaps? LED status is in the installation guide that came with your charger (or go to page 18 here). You can access the charging settings in FordPass app -> Energy -> Charge Station. Last thought would be if the Max Current Switch dial in the charger was set to a value higher as well - which for Mach e wouldn't value anything higher than 5 which would not do anything to the car but not sure if it plays into its logic of thinking its running at a reduced rate

Since this is a high performance vehicle we suggest using premium electricity vs the cheap stuff ?. Congratulations on your new vehicle.

As mentioned above, it seems you’re getting the full charge rate we typically get at 48 amp charging. However, if I drop my charge rate to 40 amp or less, I get a solid blue charger light with amber segment to the right, denoting a slower charge rate. You might double check the app to make sure you’re set to 48 amps. Otherwise, not sure what’s going on.

Thank you I will check charger setting

It’s likely your charger was installed on a 60A breaker and set to 48A. If so, what you are seeing is normal. No need to do anything.

Congrats on the new ride. I use a ChargePoint so I can't speak to the color codes on the Ford unit but I agree that it does look like you're getting a full charge rate. I run the ChargePoint at 48A and it reports a 11kw output when charging but the FordPass app shows anywhere from 10.2 to 10.5, usually 10.3kw. Checked it with Car Scanner a few times and that was even lower at 10.0 to 10.1.

Perhaps, but mine was installed on a 60 amp breaker and set to 48 amps. It is always solid blue, unless I use the app to dial the amperage back below 48. Then a portion of it will be amber, indicating it’s at a reduced charge. Now, if they set the dip switch at the charger to be more than 48 amps, I suppose it might behave that way. But they should have maxed that setting to 48 amps, if it’s on a 60 amp breaker.

Good to know. Mine is installed at to full 80A rating, so I can only derate with the app. When I do, it shows the amber on the right.

I wonder if the OP is also on an 80 amp breaker? If so, that would explain it. Also, not that it really matters, but couldn’t you still derate it to 48 amp at the box - if that’s all you’re using? Can always bump it back up in the future if you get a vehicle that can utilize the full amperage.

You can turn down the power on the Ford Charge Station Pro using a switch inside the housing. Check your instruction manual (heaven forbid). There's no sense having it set at 80 if you are only charging a Mach E. It will work more reliably at a lower setting. Turning down that internal switch should get ride of your amber light issue.

Yes kilo what
10.3 kW is normal.

Check your home's electricity on a 240v outlet if you have one accessible. It is likely somewhere between 220-240v. If you can't find a 240v outlet, measure a 120v outlet and multiply by two. That will give you your home voltage.

If your FCSP is set to 48v, then the highest possible output will be your voltage X your FCSP power setting.

220 * 48 = 10,560 W or 10.56 kW
230 *48 = 11,040 W or 11 kW

Subtract 10% for electrical losses and you should be close to 10.3 kW.
