Hello all,
I have a question about the mobile charger that comes with the MME: Are you able to adjust the amperage draw of the unit? I'm asking, because currently, my house has only a 100A service. I've had several electricians in for quotes and they've all said the same thing: Because I'm only running a 100A service, I need an interlock installed if I wanted a full 60A line run to the garage, this installation costs upwards of $4000. To avoid the interlock for the time being (can be installed at a later date) I can have a 30A breaker installed for the time being. Can the mobile charger adjust to a 24A charge rate like some of the after-market chargers (Grizzle-E, ChargePoint, etc), or will it just go right to drawing the full 32A?

Thanks in advance,

I think you're confusing the Ford Mobile Charger that comes with the car and the Ford Connected Charge Station. The mobile charger that comes with the car will only pull 32 A and is not adjustable. The Connected Charge Station can pull up to 48 A and I believe is configurable.

Honestly, you really don't need a 60 A breaker and a hardwired charger. I'd get a configurable one and set the limit lower to avoid the cost of upgrades to your house for something you probably don't need.

Sorry - yes, I updated my note above to 32A for the mobile charger. But yes, I was looking at one of the configurable ones, I was just curious if the mobile charger was configurable in the same way.

Some people find the 120 volt use of the charger adequate for their needs. There is a family in my neighborhood who keeps their Tesla plugged into a 120 volt, 20 amp outlet whenever they are home and they've been doing that for several years.
