Ford Navigation worth it?

My navigation service is up soon and I’m probably going to give it a miss. I use Apple Car Play and Maps for the most part. I might be switching to public charging soon so battery conditioning is a concern. I read somewhere that it works in other navigation apps but I don’t know how to check while in the car. Any thoughts?

Many, many threads on this. No, it's not worth it and no, you don't need it to precondition the battery using Apple Maps via CarPlay or GoogleMaps via Android Auto.

You have no way to know if it preconditions regardless, and it really would only matter in the depths of winter for you.

That navigation should be included with the overpriced Blue Cruise. Not that I ever use it.

My assumption (correct me if I'm wrong) is that it probably doesn't give me information about current traffic conditions and wouldn't divert me from major delays, like Apple and Google Maps do. That assumption makes it almost worthless except in some extreme case where I am not able to connect to CarPlay or get Apple Maps working.

Most people prefer Apple or Google Maps via phone projection. The latest SYNC update removes the “need” for the built-in nav. Personally, I pay for it because I like it better than the other options. It will route you around traffic or delays.

In short, No!

Is my view at any rate.

I’ve never used it, in fact never got on with any car maker’s sat nav’s; always found ‘em clunky and unintuitive.

Apple Maps I find far exceeds the useability and every other aspect of any other Sat nav’s.

And I’d rather be in control of where I go to charge the car - with between 300 & 400 public DCFC charges behind me, planning re-charges myself has never proved problematic to me.

Everybody will have their own preference, though.

Thanks for the correction. It's an assumption based on how older built-in navigation systems used to operate, so I'm happy to hear this isn't the case anymore.

Any advantages to this nav over what I'm using now? From what's in this thread so far, it looks like the answer is no.

The Navigation will loose the internet. Weather, POI and Traffic information.

I have found the Ford Connected Navigation has improved from 11-22 until now. I use it regularly. It has provided current traffic conditions and once re-routed my trip to avoid freeways congested due to road construction. I ignored the re-route because I was unaware of the road construction. Bad choice.

As others stated, every experience can be different but I've been pleased with it and find the cost reasonable. However, I did not renew the BlueCruise subscription. I trust my diligence when using hands-free, but until every vehicle on the road is automated in the same way, I just don't trust other vehicles.

Never used it, never will. There is a reason Ford is moving to Apple Maps natively for navigation. Mine expired in June. Haven’t missed anything.

I have been using Google Maps through Android Auto for going on 16 years, and this is my 5th vehicle that I have done that with. It streams right to the screen, has anything and everything I would need for a map app, and not only that I'm already connecting my phone to it for the music that I stream through it, have all of my owned music on my phone and have a streaming Sirius account through my wife's subscription (so don't even need a sub in the car for it). Why pay for a map service if you have a phone that you're already paying for the service that allows you to do the exact same thing? I mean, if Google Maps wasn't any good, maybe I could see not using it, but I guess I'm a little bit cheap and don't like paying for the same thing twice.
