His disappointment in Ford is well-earned and it's okay to express it on this forum like hundreds of others have already done, don't you think? I'll take your comment as wry humor. He's free to waste his time as he pleases. ;)
I probably will drop off this forum if I opt for one of the other non-MME BEV deals I've at last located (with $4-5K markups). However, I will not give up my MME order even if it's only filled next Fall, thus giving some value to perusing this forum even if I owned an Ioniq 5. I don't see why you'd care. It's not heresy to buy something other than a Ford Mach e, right? :D Who knows, maybe he and I will trade in slightly used Ioniq 5s for a new Ford MME or own both.
I take exception with your categorizing my humor as "rye". Are you a humor grading expert? ? o_O :p

Personally? No I don’t think the anger with Ford is well earned. I can understand disappointment, but that’s it. Supply chains are a mess and not just for Ford. I’m waiting on new gears for our Jeep Wrangler restoration. We’re now in excess of 3 months late. The MME is very popular, has limited production and is being allocated to all 50 states. Many of the MME alternatives are sold only in CARB states. And we haven’t even mentioned (in this post) the chip/module shortages.

I agree with your comment. FoMoCo can be criticized for some things, but they have produced a really desirable BEV and they still qualify for the Fed tax credit. I liked it enough to order one just before they raised the price (despite lack of experience with either Ford or special ordering or dealer ethics). However, I met disappoint enough with the postponement of deliveries to make me look for options. None are great, but in Southern California I do have options. I particularly hate the idea of paying dealer markup just to get a desirable BEV 4-5-6 months sooner than the MME. Now, I'm facing just that "bird in the hand worth two in the bush" decision. Probably going to own an expensive Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ltd for a few months before I have to decide what to do about my Mach e order. Personally? my blame finger points to the cryptocurrency miners who aggravated the pandemic-caused microchip shortage.

Especially when they zing you on a finance rate 2x what Ford offered as a Ford rate... "You could walk and that would be fine.." -- it's ok .. I will accept the $2500 and then refinance. Which after 2 mos I just did. Went from 4-year options at ridiculous rate at 4.97 to 7 year 2.24 from a credit union. The only issue was my credit score gets hit again due to the refinance.
Had dealer try to do options at 4.25 which was 2 points over promo directly after I told them what options was and before they ran my credit, glad I had my own financing and cash

My quandary: wait for ordered Mach e (and hope no markup) OR buy available Hyundai or Kia BEV now with Markup. It's left me wondering which color do I like best. ;)

I'm sorta surprised there are even Ioniq 5s on lots. Just me or that front end looks a bit strange on the Ioniq?

Looking at your posts, can't you just pay a markup on the MME if you are willing to pay a markup on the Ioniq 5 to try to get it sooner?

Just out of curiosity why are you willing to pay ADM on a Hyundai or Kia, but not for a MME? It’s all personal preference, but I looked at all 3 and liked the look of the MME better and feel the others look cheaper.

Personal questions that aren’t my business, but…

Are you planning on financing with Ford?
Trading in a car?
Buying any extended warranty from the dealer?
Adding any interior/exterior upgrades from the dealer?

I have a coworker who bought one last week. Every time I pass it I think it looks like they found a random front end and rear end sitting around the factory and said “I guess this could work”. Or the designers really loved that Johnny Cash song.

I had inquired of specific MME at 2 different dealers (after searching online ads at multiple dealers), none on the lot. Both said they were special orders, not for sale, and made no sales pitch whatever. Both were dealers who claimed No ADM policies. Third dealer had GTs on the lot but they had $10K markup on GTs and $5K markup on other MME trims. Sales guy claimed ignorance of CEO Farley's pronouncements about price-gouging dealers. My MME order was "recorded" the day before Ford raised the prices, so buying off the lot now requires paying the higher price, as well as any markup. (Ford MME order is still in place but not likely delivered until July, if then. "My dealer" has said they'll honor the price point and do no ADM, so I'm reluctant to give it up since it will be much cheaper than an MME on the lot today.)

I was also looking for specific Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 AWD trims (only after two months of waiting on the MME and hearing awful experience of 2021MY orders). Got a call from each dealer, saying the cars I'd requested were coming and did I want to pay deposit to hold it and accept their markup. Also, for whatever reason, the Ioniq 5 dealer reduced their ADM by 20% and would give me a good price on my 17-year old 350Z (they'll accept the Carmax estimate - buy blind policy). The Kia dealer did neither. I rationalized my decision by thinking if I really don't like the Ioniq 5 I'll trade it in for the Mach e next summer. If I do like it a lot, I'll face the decision about the Mach e whenever it gets to me. (IMHO, each is slightly different, with no one obviously superior to the others. As said elsewhere on this forum, my decision for the Ioniq 5, at this time, was finally nudged by the color I like best, digital teal. haha)

I might have done as you have done, "buy MME NOW with markup", I just hadn't encountered that opportunity within my search image and range, yet. (I admit I strongly dislike the ADM practices, and feel ashamed that I'm yielding to their game, but these are the times for it, it seems.) No, maybe, no, no on the questions.
I wish you happiness with your new MME and maybe we'll both be in the "MME Club". I still have shot at it. ?

The reason I ask about financing, trading, extended warranty, etc is this is how most dealers make money other than sale price. In a tight inventory market like now when dealers are happy to have any vehicle to sell, if they can make money off another revenue source they may be more likely to negotiate ADM.

Financing is a simple interest loan with no prepayment penalty, plus Ford options gives an extra rebate and with rates as low as they are you may want to consider financing and paying it off right away. This could help you negotiate any vehicle you buy.

Trading in a car can save you tax (depending on your state) and gives the dealer another vehicle to make money off of. If you’re charging a $10k ADM, but you could make $5k ADM and $5k off the trade (plus that buyer may have a trade, finance, buy extended warranties, etc).

Just a thought as these could help you negotiate with whatever dealer you decide to land on. I hope you find the perfect car for the best price possible!

re your first comment: I saw a video review of Ioniq 5 where it was said that the front end was "robocop-esqe" and that the overall styling had a pixel theme and more angular.
I haven't yielded my MME order, so I'll see how I feel in July or whenever I get it. Also, my MME order was filed before the price rise and "my dealer" says they'll honor the price and no ADM. IMHO, the MME is "better" but not significantly superior to Ioniq 5. One reason for moving on this now is my trade-in value has doubled in last two years, but who knows where it will be next summer. Lastly, by happenstance, the dealer ADM on the Ioniq 5 was 20% less than the markup I'd seen one Ford dealer assessing. (The other two had no MME "coming soon" or available to me.)

I ordered my MME on 5/4/21 and got an email on Friday stating that it was built. Estimated arrival is 3/18-3/24 (I'm not holding my breath since Ford has missed every estimated date so far). If it's here, I'll be pleasantly surprised.
To all those waiting - I hope your wait is not as long as mine. I'll post an update when the MME arrives.
