Bear in mind that the federal tax credit for home charger installs is still in place. I got it for my end of 2024 installation.

What survey?

You should get an email from Qmerit to start the process. The first step is filling out a survey about your home and electrical system, with pictures of the panel and install location. About 3 days later, an installer came out to take a few measurements and finalize the quote. Once you approve it, they schedule install.

2 days after purchase. I think it's highly dependent on how fast your dealer processes the paperwork.

Timeline (for anyone curious)
4/16 - Purchased car
4/18 - Received Qmerit email with code to start the process and complete survey
4/26 - I completed the survey (was out of town and needed photos)
4/28 - Installer visited my house to take measurements and finalize the quote
4/30 - Final quote approved through Qmerit
5/4 - installation completed
5/6 - Final inspection completed

How long did it take to get the survey?

For me, the process took a while. The town wasn't very quick about it. I reached out to Qmerit right before the holidays (mid-December), the install was finished end of January, and final inspection done by mid-February.

Mine was as simple an install as possible... panel could support a 60amp breaker, EVSE was going right next to the panel, and I purchased the EVSE myself. FInal cost was $1,572 including Emporia charger and all Qmerit work. I received 30% of that back in my 2024 refund due to the federal EV charger credit.

After declining the initial $757 quote from Qmerit, I received a second quote today from a different electrician for $190 and I accepted. All the wording was identical. Just the price changed. The electrician is still 2 hours away so I'm not sure why they can't find someone closer. I'll post another follow up once the installation is scheduled.
