From the picture, it looks like they've added what is probably LIDAR, which means it's probably a completely proprietary system that they'd be using, not just some enhancement to BlueCruise. Wayve, the company doing it is funded by Uber, so not to be confused with Waymo (Google) in the US.

Very cool, though! I will be impressed if it actually works well in London. I read an article a couple years ago stating that Uber wasn't very good in London compared to the cab drivers, who go through extensive training, and are masters at getting you where you're going in the complex layout and challenging traffic, whereas the Uber drivers were getting into situations where their maps were sending them into impossible situations... It sounds like the cabbies aren't too concerned about it actually coming to fruition...
