An engineer friend has one for the weekend and offered to show it off and take me for a spin. Does anyone have any questions for me to ask on your behalf? I’ll try to get some videos.

Interesting and what part of Southeastern MI does your engineer friend reside? I'm only asking because I noticed a Mach-E parked in a driveway in Plymouth this weekend....

Other than: if I can get there by tomorrow morning, may I go too?

A bit more seriously:
  • Please provide an assessment and video of the view out the back window through the rear-view mirror. There are so many cars where you just can't see out the back. I'm hoping the Mach E isn't one of them.
  • Are the back seat headrests removable, especially the middle one?
  • How does it handle in the twisties?
  • How does that B&O stereo sound? Of course, that depends on if the car is a Premium or a Select.
  • How about some door handle closeups?
  • Does installing the front license plate holder require poking holes in the front?
  • Would use of a tow hook-style front license holder mess with the radars?
  • How does the "flat" deck work in the back?
  • How easy is it to remove the panels in the front to access the 12V battery?
Most of all, we expect lots of pictures and videos!

Wyandotte. He has a carbonized gray one right now.
Cool! (Just thought it would be hilarious if it was the same car...)

Maybe just hold a cell phone flat to the rear view mirror and snap a picture to post.

I think a premium, but not 100%.
If it's an FE, I'd love to see what a "Diamond Alloy Instrument Panel Appliqué" looks like.

How about a live stream for the Forum?
I’m not even 100% sure he will let me take videos. We haven’t talked about that. I’m bringing my go pro and will ask. I’m sure he won’t mind photos, but videos are up in the air. Depends on what Ford said he is allowed to do. I can’t promise anything regarding video. Maybe there is a reason no engineers or test drivers have posted any videos...

Robert Iorio replied to me that there will be no preheating option for fast charging in the Mach-E like the Tesla has (added via software update after a few months of the Model 3 release because charge speed was crazy slow in Canada in the winter). He told that it would not be necessary, that the car would always be ready for level 3 charging.

That makes no sense. Battery are cold in the winter. To be true, it would means that the car is contanstly heating the battery, therefore the range would be terrible in the winter. Or that the battery charges fast even if it’s cold, which is very bad for the battery.

It just makes no sense. So would want to hear about battery heating in the winter. That is a huge issue in Canada. The way that Tesla now manage it is that when you enter a supercharger as a destination, the car preheats the battery and indicates « prepare for supercharging ».

I think we need manual control of battery heating and I would like to know is toughts about it.

I'd love to get a measurement from driver seat butt to the ground, if not too difficult. Eyeball it to the seat lip near the butt, then subtract the lip height to get butt height off the ground.
