I test drove an Optiq a couple months ago and found it heavy and a bit sluggish for my tastes.

I sat in an Optiq at a car show. Too much creaky plastic and faux austintaciousness
I had a 2013 CTS-V. The poor build quality was forgiven by the melodic supercharged V8. I cannot imagine that vehicle with an electric drivetrain. It would drive me nuts….hopefully Caddy’s new BEV platform is more solid on the road.

Just one man's opinion, not enough of a reason to buy an Optiq

Still 400v
Still Low Range
Slower real-world DC charging (this would be painful for me)
Not as sporty

Better choices are available. If I had to buy an EV right now, it would likely be a Mercedes EQS450+ or Lucid Air

This is the pre-2024 MME charging curve. 2024 + is 25% faster, Blazer EV and Optiq have the same battery and charger.

Sold my 23 Mach E privately and leased a 2025 Cadillac Sport 1. . Will be picking it up Friday. Needed to get something that provides more comfort at my age(77). Took the Optiq for a 2 hour test drive. Much smoother ride, quieter especially over the tar strips on the pavement and more information in front of you on the screen. Definitely not near as much power but plenty for our needs. Super Cruise is standard for 3 years and it is so far superior to Blue Cruise especially in our area. Worked flawlessly even on a 2 lane road. Only had 11,000 kilometres on the Mach E. it was my 2nd Mach E and both were basically trouble free. Cadillac has a 4 year warranty and covers everything except tires. It even refills the washer fluid and tire rotations and balances. MSRP on the Optiq is $65,000 which is $5,000 less than a 2025 Mach E I priced out. Cadillac has some really good lease prices right now. Mach E not so much!
Did you consider the Lyriq? If so, what took you to the Optiq over the Lyriq?

I test drove a Lyriq over a year ago and was very happy with the ride/suspension. My biggest gripe about our MME is the rough ride. I still have a few more years with my MME left (purchased - hate taking a huge loss). But I would be tempted by the Lyriq IF: they add a Frunk & brought back Car Play. I'm a huge Frunk user. That is where the Pickleball Bag goes, any take-out food and the groceries.

I see you live in Alberta. I read from owner and article on the net that the heat pump can't keep up at -30c. Hopefully they resolved that problem by now. Do they have a resistivity heater ?

Lyriq is bigger and $10,000 more. Didn’t need bigger as the Optiq is even a bit bigger than the Mach E. Yep, agree with you on the ride of the Mach E, it is rough. We hardly ever used the frunk so that wasn’t an issue for us. GM definitely could have designed a frunk because there is enough room for one albeit a small one.

Not sure on the heater. When it got colder than -20 the Mach E stayed in the garage and out came the ice vehicle. Heater works at any temperature!! Same will be for the Lyriq unless it has a better heater.

After we spend a couple of weeks of ownership I will definitely report on my opinions and impressions. We took a 2 year lease, I’m 77 now which means I’ll be pushing 80 when the lease is up. We will probably only need one vehicle then so will be saying goodbye to electric. Cadillac has a Seriously good lease program right now, especially for Canada. To lease a cheaper Equinox would have been almost $50O a month more. Same with leasing a 2025 Mach E.

Since when is the Mach E priced that high? Even GT all deck out doesn't cost that much? This says a Mach E cost $70000?

Actually a Premium extended range awd has an MSRP of $72,775 with a 3 year subscription of blue cruise and glass roof. Adding the bronze wheels would push it to over $74,000. My Optiq has an MSRP of just over $65,000. Ford really needs to do something about their prices to stay competitive in the bev market at least in Canada.

Minus 20 Degrees and your 77!! Shouldn't you be moving to Arizona or Florida by now??
