-20C is -4F. Still cold but not as cold as us in the US think. But yeah, I'd be looking for a more temperate climate. I like the weather here (except for the perpetual drought). ??

Don't spread the word but the central coast has pretty good weather all year around (e.g., San Luis Obispo, the 5 cities area).

Sold my 23 Mach E privately and leased a 2025 Cadillac Sport 1. . Will be picking it up Friday. Needed to get something that provides more comfort at my age(77). Took the Optiq for a 2 hour test drive. Much smoother ride, quieter especially over the tar strips on the pavement and more information in front of you on the screen. Definitely not near as much power but plenty for our needs. Super Cruise is standard for 3 years and it is so far superior to Blue Cruise especially in our area. Worked flawlessly even on a 2 lane road. Only had 11,000 kilometres on the Mach E. it was my 2nd Mach E and both were basically trouble free. Cadillac has a 4 year warranty and covers everything except tires. It even refills the washer fluid and tire rotations and balances. MSRP on the Optiq is $65,000 which is $5,000 less than a 2025 Mach E I priced out. Cadillac has some really good lease prices right now. Mach E not so much!

I agree with others who have said it sounds like you made a great choice that fits your needs and wants in a vehicle. Congrats. I turned 79 this past Monday and, for me, personally, the Mach E is great. But I live in an area where the roads are generally in very good condition and the winter weather is mild. For me the Mach E is a like a time machine in a good way. But choice is what it's all about, it's not a one size fits all world, and you've chosen to move to a car that really works for you. Enjoy it to the max and don't look back! Let's keep outrunning time! ?

OP mentions the 4yr warranty, which is good, but I haven't seen anything about the HV battery warranty. IMHO, this is just as, or more, important if one is buying the car for the long haul. (Also for resale value.) Ford has met the mostly-standard 70% retention at 8yr/100K-miles, and we know they went pretty conservative with the buffers and "usable capacity", but last info I've seen is that GM only provides a 60% warranty:

Most of the data we've seen so far on battery longevity has been pretty good, but of course only some Teslas and a few mach-Es have been driven enough to know. Even if most EV batteries do well in the long run, I'd never risk being the person who gets the occasional dud, and GMs warranty doesn't exactly say they have confidence in their battery pack and its management.

In Canada the warranty is 8 years or 160,000 kms. The Optiq comes with a separate warranty manual and the information is there.

There is a risk of getting the ‘occasional dud’ with any type of vehicle. I have now owned 3 electric vehicles and the only cars, that ever stranded me were ICE.

I owned a Volt for 9.5 yrs and did about 85-90% of miles on electricity. It started losing a little range after 7 yrs and at the 9.5 yrs had lost about 20% of range.
