Minus 20 Degrees and your 77!! Shouldn't you be moving to Arizona or Florida by now??
We used to spend the winters in Mesa AZ. Sold our home there 2 years ago. Nice thing about being retired and living in Alberta, if it’s miserable outside stay at home?

I don’t know much about the Lucid. All
I can tell is that it looks like a sporty minivan. It’s got serious rear end issues.
Best EVs on the market in terms of engineering, drivetrain, charging speed, driving dynamics, and efficiency.

An example when dc charging the gravity will add 200 miles or range in 10 minutes. That takes the MME 45 minutes.

Next year they will release a mid sized SUV. That may be the one to go with

Very interested in the Optiq, probably for the wife as an upgrade for her Bolt. I saw one but have not driven yet. I think it looks great and the really liked the interior. The Mach E interior felt sparse with less luxury when i got back in. Plus need to buy before goofy tariffs and the EV tax credit is gone. Those are major factors

No frunk. No CarPlay. Slow and sluggish. I guess it hits square in the middle of Cadillac’s target demographic ?‍♂

Sold my 23 Mach E privately and leased a 2025 Cadillac Sport 1. . Will be picking it up Friday. Needed to get something that provides more comfort at my age(77). Took the Optiq for a 2 hour test drive. Much smoother ride, quieter especially over the tar strips on the pavement and more information in front of you on the screen. Definitely not near as much power but plenty for our needs. Super Cruise is standard for 3 years and it is so far superior to Blue Cruise especially in our area. Worked flawlessly even on a 2 lane road. Only had 11,000 kilometres on the Mach E. it was my 2nd Mach E and both were basically trouble free. Cadillac has a 4 year warranty and covers everything except tires. It even refills the washer fluid and tire rotations and balances. MSRP on the Optiq is $65,000 which is $5,000 less than a 2025 Mach E I priced out. Cadillac has some really good lease prices right now. Mach E not so much!
Sounds like you made a great choice for what you and your family needs. I personally hope that when I (hopefully) reach your age I am still knee deep in car forums, looking for and wanting the latest advanced driving assists, and continue to be able to drive where I want. Enjoy the new car!

I'm considering the same (or similar) move. I have taken on a longer commute 3 days a week and I'm simply finding the MachE not comfortable enough when spending more time in it.

Optiq & Lyriq are high up on the list of options for a replacement.

lol, you "frunk guys" crack me up...Whatever did you do before a Frunk in a suv?
I always have a bunch of junk the back of the 4Runner. In the MachE all the junk is in the frunk, or in the 3" under the raised rear platform. So, the car appears clean and neat, even though I still have shopping bags, emergency food, Presso XI coffee machine, winter shoes, toilet paper, charging adapters...

You know the seats on the GT are soooo much more comfortable than the Select & Premium, FYI

After we spend a couple of weeks of ownership I will definitely report on my opinions and impressions. We took a 2 year lease, I’m 77 now which means I’ll be pushing 80 when the lease is up. We will probably only need one vehicle then so will be saying goodbye to electric. Cadillac has a Seriously good lease program right now, especially for Canada. To lease a cheaper Equinox would have been almost $50O a month more. Same with leasing a 2025 Mach E.
I've known a lot of people in their 80's in Alberta lately and it seems like electric fits well with 80's lifestyle. Car mostly sits in the garage charging, no oil leaks, can fire it up in the garage with no exhaust, no oil changes to worry about, most people in their 80s don't do long road trips anymore. Only problem is many seniors residences (if you're thinking of going that route) don't have many plugs in their garage/parking areas. You want to pick a seniors residence where people seem happy and where the food is good, it would be annoying to have to bypass your first-choice seniors residence because of a lack of plugs in their garage.

Didn't need one. The K/5 is a full-size and will pull pretty much anything that's stuck out of the sand or muck. Plusses for the manual tranny, floor-shifters for the tranny and the transfer case, and removable roof. Minus because it's a Chebby. ??

-20C is -4F. Still cold but not as cold as us in the US think. But yeah, I'd be looking for a more temperate climate. I like the weather here (except for the perpetual drought). ??

If picking, choose wisely. For instance, for Phoenix, that 77F/25C comes with a July high of about 105F/40.5C.
