GTPE less bouncy?

You can order one in a few months but you won’t have it delivered until 2023 and the MSRP will be higher and tax credit reduced or gone.

How patient are you and how much of a gambler?

If the ADM is 7k there really is only 500 left of the tax credit. If they gave me MSRP for mine I would do the deal. Maybe a bad move for me but won’t do a deal if I feel like I am being taken advantage of even if it’s the best deal I have.

my hope is for 2023 models they produce the expensive GTPE first and hopefully a 50% credit. I am also willing to gamble the car won’t devalue much. Gas prices are up and cars are still hard to find.

I will also add the car is black which is fine but not my first pick of colors. So at least ordering gets me what I want.

But I am also knowing for buying at the high point in the market so what do I know ?

How much for each of those? Time will tell. The days of a new car going up in value when you drive it off the lot are numbered.

Since they won’t even let me test drive not even sure it is worth it!

Yeah that’s a tough one. My first test drive of the GTPE was on delivery day. It was before I signed the papers of course.

First time in my life that I did not do that... I only test drove a GTPE AFTER I signed the documents. I had test driven a GT (non PE) and Premium prior...but I will say...zero regrets and it was low risk. I could sell it for more than I paid for it if I did not like it...but that is not a possibility at this point.

I've test driven the GT before purchasing the GTPE and must say.. Yes the magnerides do make a significant difference in ride quality.

The GT has a non adjustable suspension which imo veers more towards the harsher side between 'comfortable' and 'sporty'. I had not driven the test car through cracked roads but have found that the car had issues during my test drive soaking up road bumps from uneven/damaged roads, often allowing for road vibrations to soak up the cabin.

The GTPE in whisper mode has a very compliant rebound and compression setting, which I feel handles most road bumps with ease. This is complemented by somewhat of a 'medium' setting in engaged mode, followed by stiffer suspension in unbridled. The icing on the cake must be however, that all this is instantly adjusted (along with the car's performance) via a setting on the screen. I do wish that there was a button for this, much like what they have in the BMW i4 m50 though. Without digressing too much, it feels to my butt and body, that the stock GT suspension lies somewhere between the GTPE's engage and unbridled mode settings in terms of firmness.

Lastly, while the magnerides do work flawlessly and do a good job of giving you the best of all worlds, it would be prudent to expect that issues with these shocks may be more expensive and/or complicate to resolve than the 'normal' shocks in the GT.

I'm wondering if all EV's really should have some sort of fancied up suspension over typical springs from ice vehicles. Since EV's are a lot heavier it kind of makes sense in my mind. I'll definitely keep a lot of focus on the suspension for future purchases. May have just lucked out this time with purchasing a GTPE but as others have said the ride quality is pretty good.

I waited 8 months to get a GTPE solely for the magnaride. Not only is there no bounce, it does a great job in absorbing the hard bumps. You feel the road, but don't feel abused by it.

in addition, it corners like a dream It feels like the magnaride gives you a little bit of corner support as opposed to a normal spring / strut suspension, where I always feel the car tilt slightly to the outside part of the turn.

I second MightyMike's comments...we waited 8 months to get our GTPE. We got the GTPE because of Magneride and the way he described it is exactly how I would say it. The only thing I would add...my wife and I both noticed that this car feels more "planted" than any car we have ever owned. It just feel glued to the ground. Firm, but not harsh.

I am jealous. I was never able to make a deal to trade in my GT and get the PE for anything that made financial sense to me. So for now I am stuck with this crappy ride

Closest I have found so far is a dealer wanting 25k over sticker for one....that wasn't going to work!

Agreed. At this point I am seeing if I can get a GTPE for a decent price otherwise will see what 23 orders bring or just sell and move on. I love everything else about the car but life is too short to be miserable driving on roads near me.

I feel the GTPE is no better or worse than a Premium AWD ER on regular roads.

But with high speed maneuvers I feel more confident with the GTPE. It's either less body roll due to MagneRide or the wider tires.

Neither the Premium and GTPE ride/suspension bothered me. Yeah there are bounces over speed bumps but that's it.
