I went from a '21 Premium to a '22 GTPE. One of my biggest gripes was just how bouncy the '21 was at speed. People talked about it being a "sports car." It was anything but a sports car. Damn thing handled like boat over 70 mph. The GTPE is a completely different story. It handles like a sports car and is glued to the road. I can't wait to take it to the track this summer. It handles much more like the Porsche Cayman I used to own. Bounce GONE. I paid $5K ADM for the GT but got MSRP for my 14 month old trade in that I bought under X Plan.
Thanks. I will keep waiting for the appropriate deal if not sell or wait for 2023. The deal you got seems like a fair deal! Remember mine is 2 weeks old with 500 miles no reason I shouldn't get MSRP.

Someone almost chastised me on here because I got ONLY MSRP for my trade in. The dealer initially came in $5K lower but I went around and got some other trade in quotes and had more than 1 dealer offering me MSRP for my trade. They came up. There is NO reason they shouldn't give you AT LEAST sticker price for your car.

You keep saying this, but you’re only getting the dealer’s price. You just need to get it appraised elsewhere. Most dealers still significantly lowball on trade ins, even in the current market.

I can’t get it appraised at any of the online places because it is not registered. I can bring it to other Ford dealers I guess.

Down here you have to register it right away and they do it at the dealer.

You realize that trading it in at MSRP is a profit to you right? Register that thing!

What price did you pay for it when you bought it 2 weeks ago?

I bought it from an out of state dealer who is handling all registration etc. My understanding is it takes time for the state to process.

I paid MSRP but had to transport it so basically total out of pocket with taxes / title / transportation / federal credit etc would put me very close to MSRP.

The new car given the +7 ADM offsets the second federal credit. For the math to work to get back to if I just bought a PE to start at MSRP (not that it was an option at the time) I would need the trade in to be valued at MSRP.

For now I will wait for my state to process the registration and see what else is out there.

Yeah that’s kinda the math I thought it would be.

So anything less than MSRP is the equivalent of paying a small ADM.

So ask yourself this: would you buy a GTPE for a small ADM if you didn’t have a car right now?

Yes, you could wait, register, hope to get a better deal. But my bet is that the GTPE will be gone by then.

Option 2 (somewhat risky)- Buy the GTPE and sell your car later.

Correct that is how I am looking at it.

so for the 6k more for the PE plus another 2.5k additional cost plus the fact I need all season tires to me it isn’t worth 10k more at this time. Especially without driving to see if it is even better for the roads I drive on.

Expecting the $7,500 Federal "rebate" to offset ADM is foolhardy.

Remember, it's not a rebate; it's a Federal tax credit. At best, you won't see the benefit for at least a year. And it only works if you have at least $7,500 in Federal income tax liability. If you don't, you won't get it back as a tax refund.

I have a GT on order. When it arrives, I'll pay only MSRP and may trade-in my 2020 Tesla Model 3. The trade-in value for that car with 20K miles on the clock is higher than I paid for it brand new!

Foolhardy?

Money is money. If you get it, you get it.

And if you wait until 2023……. That tax credit will likely be gone (plus expect the price of 2023 models to be higher).

Inflation plus short supply plus tax credit disappearing plus insanely high trade in values.

Plenty of reasons to BUY NOW, even with an ADM.

I've had my GT now for 7 months. The bouncy ride has gotten much better then when it was new. It was really bad at the beginning but had definetly settled down. Yes, over certain joints its pretty rough. 99% of the time nothing to notice. I have a good amount of time pushing both gt and gtpe. Daily driving the gtpe has a better ride, hands down. When you push them both minimal difference in handling.

Thank you. That is interesting that it settled down and maybe something to look forward to.

My offer was my GT nonpe with 500 miles plus 13k cash. Plus additional tax / title etc.

They said no they want 16k cash. They are selling the car for +7 so the issue is they are trying to kill me on my used car value. I don’t think asking MSRP for my used car is crazy in this market and we all know they can sell it for a few grand.

Maybe I am wrong but seems like they are missing out on getting two gains.
Honest question here. Given that one can soonish order a ā€˜23 for MSRP can dealers truly make $$ if they trade for a used MME at MSRP? I’m wondering as I may sell/ trade my CR1 for a Premium.

Used Teslas are selling used for more than new and the ordering banks never closed.

You can order one in a few months but you won’t have it delivered until 2023 and the MSRP will be higher and tax credit reduced or gone.

How patient are you and how much of a gambler?
