I agree; however to GM's credit, they have pumped out A LOT of EVs this year alone with more to come.Well Ford did improve on the MME for 2024. So it's not like Ford has given up on it yet.
The dealership model needs to go or heavily reimagined. Too much overhead and sales nonsense.
The bigger question is whether Ford has given up on EV in general. Ford and GM have back pedaled on the EV push. Frankly in the EV domain, it's really Tesla and Chinese brands that are leading. Instead of spending money on R&D, these legacy makers spent on lobbying governments to put up walls. Why compete when you can monopolize? Regardless, GM and Ford are becoming less relevant in the global modern automotive marketspace.
* Blazer EV (round 2, last fall's release went uhh badly)
* Equinox EV
* Silverado EV
* GMC Denali EV
* Escalade IQ (coming soon)
* Cadillac Optiq (coming soon)
* Cadillac Vistiq (coming soonish)
* Ultium Bolt (next year)
That all joins the Lyriq that came out last year. Can't forget the Honda Prologue and the Acura ZDX, both of which are GM Ultium cars. GM has quite a bit of choice at a variety of price points and form factors. Ford only has 2 EVs (disregarding the E-Transit) since the beginning and will not gain another one until 2026/2027, that is very unfortunate.
Edit:
It is unfortunate that GM dropped CarPlay and outside of their big trucks, refuse to put a frunk in their cars. Those are 2 showstoppers from me getting one. Maybe they will change their minds eventually.
