That's kind of what I am getting at. I can't imagine Ford ditching Mach-E even if it results in a platform transition. Since there is no information and just rumor/conjecture it makes little sense to discuss in such a manner.
I did say it was rumor multiple times. In other threads people seem to be discussing it without the one word I have always used in relation to this: “rumor.” ??

I hear ya.

Regarding the original post, this is more emblematic of a dealer/service problem than a Ford abandonment issue.

Considering the changes/refinements Ford made for 2024 in addition to their continued focus on providing OTA updates, it seems weird to suggest that the OP's experience is a sign of Ford washing their hands of the Mach-E.

Within the EV space it is doing pretty well. There are bigger issues Ford is dealing with on the EV front as a whole, but the Mach-E doesn't seem to be tainted in a way that would suggest discontinuance.

It's rarely been more difficult to forecast very far out. Especially in years.

Those that do are risking being accused of flipflopping.

I'm glad that not knowing the future with certainty isn't something that bothers me much. I can see where if it did, modern/current life might be rather trying.

My Mach-E is a very current vehicle. It's relevant today. For most folks around me, they haven't even seen or known of its existence yet. So today is a great day to enjoy one.

interim technologies are never good long term bets. .....

and the EV revolution has already happened in the largest car market in the world... China. Hiding behind massive tariffs is never a sustainable position... yet both Europe and North America are trying to buy time... if that time is wasted by automakers pursuing hybrids... then they are doomed.
BEV is an inferior consumer solution as free market demand has shown. ICE has been around over 100 years and the hybrid enhancement will keep that going until long after we are all dead.

Fossil fuels generate prosperity and improve the quality of life the world over. BEV’s are fun, we enjoy ours, but they will remain a small niche for greenies and affluents who have several vehicles in their household. Without govt incentives or dictates, BEV’s will continue to be a minor share of the marketplace — there is no EV: long range, low cost and fast charging speed silver bullet anywhere on the horizon which will ensure their position as a niche product for the foreseeable future. Full stop.

I have had my Mach-e for 3 1/2 years but I don't want to own an "orphan" car. I'm not in love with Teslas but I think they might be the only manufacturer that can be trusted to not walk away from the category.

Ford has not given up on the Mach-E, quite the contrary, Ford is doubling down on the Mach-E. This is evidenced by the continuing and significant investment in the plants in Mexico. This was just announced:

"FoMoCo has announced that it will invest $273 million in its Irapuato plant in Mexico, which will soon build the Primary Power Unit for the Ford Mustang Mach-E, a component that integrates the electric motor and the transmission of the propulsion system. The plant – which will now be known as the Irapuato Electric Powertrain Center (IEPC) – has previously been used to build transmissions for gas-powered vehicles, much like the the Ford Van Dyke Transmission Plant, which now builds electric motors and transaxles and is known as the Van Dyke Electric Powertrain Center.

“We are very happy with this announcement that ratifies confidence in Guanajuato, we continue with good news for the State,” said Governor Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo. “We celebrate this decision, which we see as a recognition of the great work of our employees and the quality of the products we manufacture. This new stage allows us to create synergy between plants and push development in the country,” added Ricardo Anaya, Director of Manufacturing at Ford in Mexico and Latin America.

This move is just the latest that’s part of Ford CEO Jim Farley’s vision of moving more EV part production in-house, which is also the case with the new e-motors used in the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E. According to Farley, this move not only saves the company money versus outsourcing that particular task, but it also helps the automaker retain more of its workers, too."

Haha I thought you were serious for a moment.
What product or natural resource has contributed more value to the world's economy than fossil fuels? The steam engine? Cotton gin? Silicon? Nuclear? Water and dirt, perhaps, depending on how you look at it.

No doubt fossil fuels will someday be surpassed by some other man-made product that will alleviate an even greater amount of human poverty and suffering. But not today.

You guys are talking past tense, and so I agree that polluting the world has been profitable. But it won't be forever. So, present and future tense? I don't agree that this is "improving the quality of life the world over". But whatever, call me a "green dreamer" or whatever the term was that you used.

Good to see Ford is taking a page out of the successful-er EV makers' playbook. It's enables better control. Farley once expressed frustration when Ford wanted to institute some changes that resulted in delays because of the many suppliers agreement required. Next up, mega-casting!

The one legacy maker to watch is BMW. It's BEV sales have overtaken Tesla in Europe. BMW has steadily roll out some good albeit premium EV offerings. Neue Klaas should be a return to form especially from that damn snout!

It is unfortunate that GM dropped CarPlay and outside of their big trucks, refuse to put a frunk in their cars. Those are 2 showstoppers from me getting one. Maybe they will change their minds eventually.
I concur. No CarPlay, no frunk, no purchase. I won’t even consider any EV without those.

Serious question - what’s the big deal with the frunk? It’s a novelty to me. I honestly don’t use it much. Maybe I need to move to Hawaii?
