I keep noticing, on the rare occasion I go to the a/c control screen, that the heat is on (and the recirculation is off). I didn’t think it mattered, but today I noticed a humming noise and determined that it came and went when I turned the heat on and off. Don’t need ANY heat in Florida right now. Anyone else noticed these symptoms?

Your humming noise was probably unrelated.

The e-heat button enables or disables the ability for the car to choose to use the electric heating elements. It won't actually do anything when no extra heat is needed.

It's super confusing... It probably should be labelled "Allow electric heating when necessary for passenger comfort and cold battery warming in extreme conditions. Estimated driving range is reduced when e-heating is in use."

Yeah I noticed the same thing. I assumed it's part of using the Auto Climate. It will add heat to the air when needed to maintain the desired temp. If your desired temp is typically on the cold side it won't use any heat.

That's normal/expected. It's running dehumidification. So both the A/C and the heat run at the same time so the windows don't fog up. I suggest leaving it in AUTO and letting it do its thing.

New EV drivers are often paranoid about heat and A/C running, from experience it really doesn't matter much for most trips. The tiny amount of heat it uses in the summer is insignificant, so you don't need to worry about it.

If you have a 2023.5, humming noise is the coolant pump for motor heat recovery to the cabin. In that case it's not costing you any range.

I second Mach-Lee’s reply. While you don’t need heat in FL you certainly do need dehumidifying!

I found something interesting the other day. I turned HVAC off, selected the upper and lower vents. The Heat turned on. I started to lower the Temperature and when I got to 64 Degrees the Heat turned off. Raising the Temp to above 65 degrees turned it back on.

Yes, it turns on and off automatically based on your set temperature and the current cabin temperature.

Frequently when starting the car inside my garage to exit, the seat heating-up alerts me to the fact that the Heat is on. Here in South Florida I've never needed or activated Heat (it's been getting up to 93 degrees in the garage with a fan operating 24/7). I've forgotten the steps I take to get the cold air pumping out and the seat-heating off. It's a minor irritant, but I'd welcome a tip on avoiding it.

I'm #8 below. And I've experienced the same thing (I then press max a/c, hit recirculation, and the cooling starts).
