While stationed in Berlin Germany (yes that was several years ago haha) I bought a U.S. spec practically new BMW from an Army buddy who was PCSing to Hawaii and wanted a Jeep to use there. Wife and I did explore the West German autobahns because France, Italy and all that stuff was just on the other side... until I learned that driving that BMW 318i at WOT, like, all the time, kept reliably blowing the fuel pump. I learned to slow down and enjoy life at an indicated 105 mph... until I got my 1st autobahn speed ticket (yes they are a thing on certain sections). Let's say "Big Ouch" 
and add a 23 Deutsche Mark mandatory processing fee on top at the German Post Office where you also pay government bills.
