The day after Labor Day we were passing through California and the price of Regular at stations in Needles, CA was over $7 per gallon. Stations in Arizona, an 8 mile drive over the Colorado River, were selling it for around for about $4.50 per gallon.

Arizona also uses the special California environmental blend and is even more of a fuel island. There are no refineries in Arizona and all fuel is piped in.
that's wild, here in GA it's around $3.30 a gallon

Well, I've never understood why people continue to pay exorbitant gas prices when there is an easy and profitable alternative.

If the people in Huntington Beach would just get a local Costco membership for $60 a year, they could purchase all the Top Tier gas they want for the price below. How many gallons of $1.30 a gallon saving would you need to buy to get your membership fee back? And you could shop at Costco.

Today's prices.

I love costco, When I had ICE cars, I filled up exclusively at costco, but the tradeoff is that the lines are long, and would take an avg of 20mins or more waiting for a pump.

This is not some remote area in the mountains, it's in the middle of Huntington Beach, CA

I'm surprised the extra cost for credit cards is still only 10 cents .. should be double that.

You realize that some people have to travel to get to a Costco right? The closest one to me is a nightmare to get to and way out of the way. It would cost me a gallon in gas just to get there and another to get back. You also realize that California traffic can make a 5 mile drive turn into 30 minutes?

Additionally, gas lines at Costco are stupid. Some people value their time in life over the pennies they could potentially save. Now if I happen to be at Costco, sure I would get gas while I'm there, but I'm not going out of my way to do that.

All remote locations in California have crazy gas prices. This is how it's always been as long as I can remember. Supply and demand. If you need gas and there's nothing for miles, you're gonna pay for it. I don't think anyone is using remote locations as an argument here.

Nevada is bearing the brunt of California policies.
That is inaccurate. Reno is not representative of Nevada. Washoe County, including Reno, is about 1/2 million people. Clark County, in the south end of the state, including Las Vegas, has a population of 2.3 million+.

Years ago we wised up, and now have a second gas pipeline from Utah. Here is the result, today. Remember, Top Tier gas.

See now I did this once to use the squeegee. You would have thought I stealing something my mannerism was so furtive. What didn't occur to me is that most people have no idea what the Mach-E is, let alone that it's electric.

With that kind of wait, might as well get an EV! ?

I'm not either. I'm comparing the prices at two stations 8 miles apart. Parker, Arizona is not exactly a busy metropolis.:D

LOL, F-150 pickup with a 36 gallon tank. Fill up with 30 gallons. 30 X $1.30 saving = $39.00.

OK, everyone, how long would you wait in line to save $39.00? Just curious.

So you quote Costco (membership) gas prices as representative of an entire state... comical. If you're going to have an argument you shouldn't be deceptive because it makes everything you say worthless.

Then you go on to say it's $1.30 difference when it's really only $0.30 and you assume everyone has a 36 gallon tank to fill all while ignoring the entire point of my argument which was multi-facited. A regular gallon of gas at Costco here is $5.03 and Arco is $5.33 across the street. That savings isn't worth it for some people, especially those who don't live near a Costco, imagine that being a possibility.

Nevada, Oregon and Arizona have always had gas stations on the border that advertise lower prices than California. Heck, they have road signs that flat out say "Last chance to get gas before California". It's an entire marketing scheme.

Either way all of the states around California suffer. California is just the worst out of them all. Per AAA here's the pricing:

Yep. I have the 36 gal tank as well and only fill up at my local Sams Club. Membership pays for itself after my second fill up.
