I just experienced my third instance of this happening since February 7, when I took delivery of my MME. Today I sat in my car an extra 15 seconds after I shut it off, if I've needed to charge in the past 2 weeks I have been immediately exiting the vehicle and connecting the charger.

I replied to a previous thread exhibiting similar symptoms but might ultimately be a different underlying cause. My post from the other thread copied below. Hoping this isn't a highway to hell and going to the dealer until I get a new car / lemon law. Seems like the kind of issue it's going to be impossible for them to diagnose, and one I don't see reported by many MME owners.

If I come home, shutoff the car and immediately connect the Level 1 Ford charger (it will be a bit until I have Level 2 installed), it charges every time within seconds of connecting the charger. If I do any extra steps, like today I forgot to turn off the wipers, so I power on the car to turn them off, and immediately powered the car back off, the charge refused to initiate. Each time I had this issue happen, after extensive troubleshooting the first time, determined driving around the block (about 1 mile/couple minutes), then shutting off and immediately connecting the charger upon arriving home resulted in the charge starting fine like normal.

I'm going to notify Ford at some point, as it's obviously a glitch. Computers being computers. For now the "fix" (workaround) is to just connect the charger as soon as I get home, no passing go. No collecting $200. If I forget something and need to power it on, do that after charging initiates.

Just got off the phone to make an appointment at the dealer, and was informed there's a recall as of February 20th. Here's what I could find online (does not seem directly related to issue I'm having so will still have them look at logs):

Dealer changed out the charge port on the car. Said the car was giving false readings preventing it from charging if I did the power cycle thing as previously described. I tried to recreate the issue when I got home and couldn't, so appears to be fixed and was a defective part (not a 'glitch'/software issue as I hypothesized).

Incomplete, because I did a second test (waiting a minute between the initial power off and the second power on/off) and I was able to recreate the issue. Notified the dealership, stay tuned.

I recorded a video this time, figure this could get messy. I also suggested they try to replicate this on one of their 2024 MMEs on the lot. If it happens on all of them, it's more a MME issue than a my MME issue.

I see, thanks.

I also use the level 1 mobile charger; I could try the same steps (power off, power on, power off, connect charger) on my Mach E and see what happens.....

Wanted to clarify that I'm not looking for anything special from the dealer/Ford or leaning on them too hard about this. They provided a loaner for over a week and have been responsive thus far. My last text to the service agent at 1:15PM today:

"And to be clear, I can 99.98% of the time avoid triggering this issue so this is not urgent in the sense we need answers today, but it does need to be fixed at some point. (I want that in writing for both of our's sake). I would also thnk that Ford Inc would want to know if this glitch was widespread across this model or possibly all MMEs. "

If it's not replicable on your Rally MME, I wonder if the base model I have (with the LFP battery) has different charging components and the glitch might be more trim/model specific.

My Level 2 is in the permit phase, coming by the end of April hopefully.

Outside of the glitch, I really like the car. Cost, performance, and features are all in the sweet spot for me.

The ring light turned blue. Isn't it charging? my advice is test it with a level 2 charger. Maybe a public one if you don't have one yet.

That last unlit light should be flashing blue to indicate it's charging. The dealership has already replicated the problem with their level 2 chargers, see my first post and link to a detailed explanation.

The question isn't whether the issue exists, it's why it's happening and if it's a widespread issue with certain trim MMEs or all MMEs. It could still be a glitch with my specific car, but it's also possible it's an underlying problem I stumbled on with some/all MMEs.

Dealer changed out the charge port on the car. Said the car was giving false readings preventing it from charging if I did the power cycle thing as previously described.
