Hey guys, 21 MME Select. here. I've owned for about 2 months now and did a slew of FDRS updates a month ago. Tried fast charging after the updates for the 1st time at a 350KW EA station and only got 31Kw. Other Fords use the same station and get 130 - 150. Tried different stations and always below 17% but no change. I was pointed to the TSB bulletin but not an issue. No DTC's to point to a problem. Hoping to crowd source a solution, be it a part replacement or an FDRS update. My local stealerships are of no help.

A faulty EA station charges at 34kW or so. If you're getting 31 at a station that someone charged at just before and it worked for them, then you have an issue. When the HVBJB fails, charging speed is limited, but to around 41kW. But you said you have no codes.

Thanx RickMachE, yes after trying alternate EA locations with the same result, I narrowed it down to my vehicle as well. Just hoping it's somthing I can address independently.

FYI IF my plug and charge worked at an EA station for some unknown reason I only get ~30kw. I can cancel that charge and activate the station before plugging in, skipping P&C and I'll get a normal charge rate. Try activating the station from FordPass first and see if you get a different speed. I can't use P&C 80% of the time, and when it does actually click I get a trickle, so I gave up on it. There is no logical reason at all that I should have these results.

Plug & Charge. It's where you plug the car in, without using any app to activate the charging, the car will negotiate with the station to start the charge.

The other method is to use an app to tell it to start the charge on station/charger xyz, then plug the cable into the car once the app tells you it's ready.

What was your SOC (state of charge) at the time? When battery is not low, it cannot take a fast charge rate

I have always insured I'm below 20% whec DC charging. Just tried an EA charger at 13%. Tried pre-activating the station in advance as azerik suggested, but that didn't work. Once I plugged the car up it was asking for payment which is a first. Usually it connects, recognizes my remaining credit balance and starts charging. But not tonight, had to break out the credit card. Anywho, paid, gave a few minutes and waited to see if it would improve from the usual 30kw but no such luck. I left the EA station and navigated to an EVgo 4 miles away just to see if a different network would make a difference, It didn't. Arrived with 15%, started at 26Kw and peaked at 30kw once again. So no joy, no change.

Interesting about needing the credit card. This just happened to me on Monday. It said I needed to set up my Blue Oval Charging account (I have had the car for more than 3 years and it’s always been set up).

I logged into the website and … my account wasn’t set up. I considered things like … maybe the credit card on file was expired and they turned it off (better to have a message to that effect if that was the case). Anyway I did recently get a replacement card — so maybe that was it.

Once I activated BOCN (it acted like I was activating a trial membership) and put the credit card back in I was able to use Plug & Charge at EA.

That's just bizarre. If you tried several stations then I'd conclude it's your car. Take a video of your experience to your service department to have them take a look.

I chalked it up to the recent hack that has Ford in disarray, so I didn't bother to check online. But I will, I have only used maybe 7 of my free 250, so disconcerting to say the least.

I didn't take a video to show them, but I had plenty of pictures. I had a few showing another MME getting around 158Kw and ensured the EA number could be seen, then me at that same station with only 30Kw. They where also to address camera alignment and auto parking not working. Tech said he updated lane keep, active cruise control and supposedly BC at pick up. Well still no BC, auto park works, but still have a DTC regarding camera alignment. He used the newly installed fast charger on the lot and thought 14% added in an hour was fast, so yea.
A day later when I was below 20% I tried DC charging again and no change. I went back and advised my service advisor, as well as explained what the tech's impression of fast was. She agreed 14% over an hour was not fast charging. She would get with the tech and call me back. Two weeks later, still no call. Went by again yesterday and expressed my displeasure politely of no call back. To add insult to injury she did not remember what she was suppose to be doing. After shaking my head and explaining it all again, she says bring the car next week. Tried going to a different Ford that can service EV's but they were no better, left messages with both service and mobile service, also no call back. So yea, when I say "of no help" in the original post, that's what I was referring to. It appears at this point I have no choice but to wait.
Ironically I found a comment by Ford in the forum and sent a message regarding my lack of service and support for the vehicle. They responded with more info request. This was roughly 10 days ago, haven't heard from them either. If I may vent, I have never been a fan of Ford, but I made an exception for the MME, believe you me I am black and blue from kicking myself. Just saw a news feed, 150 thousand F150's recalled for a transmission issue.

Hey all, so after everything above was tried to no avail. I threw my hands up and took it back to Ford. So 1st let me say my local Ford only has one EV tech. Now I have taken it there before for no DC fast charging, and even spoke with the tech post service who thought he fixed it. He stated he plugged it up to the fast charger on site but it doesn't have a display for him to see how fast it charged. So I took it home and later tried charging at an EA, sadly the same previous charge rate(31Kw). That's when I looked at the charge history in the app and noted it took an hour to charge 14% at Ford. I called my service advisor and she agreed that is not fast charging. I waited for several weeks for her to speak with the tech and call me back. In the interim that's when I posted the issue and tried several suggestions here.
Now at this point they have had my MME for two weeks and haven't touched it, and that's after giving me a specific day to bring it. So with all that said I am tempted to go get my car and purchase an OBCC while there. They are not as costly as I imagined. Other than a possible software push, do you guys now if it's a simple plug and play or is there additional Forscan or FDRS steps needed?

Have you tried to let it charge above 20%? When you are below a certain threshold (and also above) the charging curve will be degraded. If you plug in at 13-15% and let it go, it should ramp up near 20% to a faster charge. If it is not, and you've done this, then you've got a problem.
