It's been a great 5 years but this website has finally reached the Jump The Shark stage. Went from fun to aggravating with all the bickering and digs over politics. Even the mods seemed to have thrown their hands up. Time to back burner it for a while. Try not to kill each other. :computerrage:
In fairness, there really isn’t much to talk about vis a vis the MME right now. But damn, people have really lost their minds about politics.

@Ford Motor Company needs to feed us a few breadcrumbs about an exciting new (karaoke) update.

When politics control everything in our lives for the first time in our lives, how could it not end up like this? Asking for a friend.
It only controls everything in your life if you give it that mind share... it's my observation that people who do this are generally not very happy people.

Actually I was doing pretty well in the happiness department until now. I'm not alone.

And how did people burying their head in the sand work out before WWII?
you confuse burying your head in the sand with being fixated on things... they are not the same anymore than being preoccupied with politics means you are informed. I meet lots of people that honestly have no idea what they are talking about and yet are really wound up.

look, this is a car forum... there are lots of places where unhappy people can argue about politics if that is what you want to do.

This is a public space where people are discussing the outcomes of tarrifs and the effects they have on owners and purchasers of said cars.

For some reason it seems that if there was a “Make EV’s great again executive order”, the “that’s political you need to be silent” crowd would probably be all over posting about it.

We own cars that were made political, with manufacturers practices and prices that are political.

That is just a fact of life.

Nothing says making America great again like raising prices on timber and, thus, new house construction.

Dairy has been a long bone of contention since before the first Canada - US free trade agreement in 1988. The Canadians have issues with one of the world's most heavily subsidized dairy industries exporting to their country. Canada's non-subsidized dairy industry utilizes supply management to maintain profitability, not government subsidies. In 2023 Canada imported approximately $526.3 million USD worth of highly subsidized US dairy while the USA imported approximately $204.1 USD worth of non-subsidized Canadian dairy. Yup, there's a definite imbalance there — but it's not in the direction a few think.

Doesn't make much sense to limit production and then import a large amount of dairy.

Who cares?

Tax credits, tarrifs, etc. it’s all “political”. All the crap they do effects us and we should be able to talk about it.
Sheesh...take it easy. It was a joke.

The last administration tried to make EV's or anything that helped the environment and climate for future generations more attractive in order to move the new cleaner technologies forward. The current administration is climate change denying drill drill drill crazy. They are EV and any other alternative power haters that are going out of their way to reverse anything the previous administration did at any cost. It's retribution and retaliation and punishment for not crowning him King during his first term.

Actually it does. The United States is 10x larger than Canada. Much of the dairy imported from the USA become value added non dairy products such as baby formula — something the US can’t quite keep up with. There are far more dairy farms in the USA and the USA engages in price dumping, a practice the current U.S. government finds distasteful when others do it. Supply management practices are used in every first world country with the exception of the USA.

Supply management practices keep farmer income relatively predictable without the need for government subsidies and ensures a reasonably stable retail pricing structure that mitigates the need for $13.99 per dozen eggs (our latest price). The USMCA agreement, negotiated by Mr. Trump, ceded 9% of the domestic Canadian dairy market to the USA, but Canada's anti dumping tariffs still apply. The bottom line is that the United States wants Canada to abandon tariffs and import quotas on dairy, something allowed under all previous trade agreements, while at the same time continuing its own governmental dairy industry subsidies.

Essentially, the current administration is angry over being held to the same standard as it wants others to be held to. Physician, heal thyself.

The other poster was implying that dealers were discounting that much. Not the same as saying that dealer discounts plus incentives totaled the large discount.
I wasn’t implying anything. I was saying they were selling for $11k off MSRP.

A stark contrast to the person stating a local dealer was charging MSRP.

I didn’t specify dealer discount vs incentives. Just selling price.

Either way, it just backs up my original post that a dealer charging MSRP is taking advantage. That’s way over market price.

Understood. Definitely agree that dealers who won't budge off MSRP or put additional markup on every vehicle as a starting point for negotiations are s#itty dealers and will never get my business.
